This may be a silly question

To decorate a cake or cookies, is there anything that would resemble say a glue gun type of gizmo? I can't squeeze those bags the frostings are supposed to go into, to create decorations. Does anyone have an answer? Thanks.

I have an icer - decorator from many years ago that I got from Pampered chef - it works much like a syringe. I fill the barrel with icing and put on an end cap that has various designs and push down a plunger that squeezes out the icing.

I have a muscle disease, and I have been looking at something like this............

It’s fun to top cupcakes with big swirls of frosting, but there are many times when you might want your baked goods to get a little more detail in their decorating. Piping small details or decorations onto cake with colored frosting can be a challenge, since pastry bags don’t always make it easy to get the fine level of detail that you might need – especially if you’re more of a casual cake decorator, as opposed to someone who does this all the time.

Fortunately, Nordic Ware’s EZ Deco Icing Pen seems designed to solve just this problem. The pen holds a small piping bag and allows you to pipe out frosting with the same level of control you would get with a regular pen. The tool has a compartment to hold the piping bag and you simply press a small lever as you work to control the flow of the frosting. It’s comfortable to hold, which means that you won’t tire your fingers out as you might with a traditional pastry bag, even if you’re working on a big cake or batch of cookies. It works both with stiff and slightly softer icings, and it is easy to change the pastry bag out so that you can work with different colors. The pen also comes with several different tips, so that you can get different textures in your details, too.

I have one similar to this from Pampered Chef also, and it works great. Wore out one, so bought another. Don't think I would be great with a pastry bag either.

U can use baggies and cut a hole in the corner, slip in the tip U want to use. Easy to do.

Believe it or not, it is easier to have something that does not make you constantly twist, squeeze, and guide in a continuous motion, than something that gives more leverage for squeezing, and totally takes away the having to hold the twisted end of the bag constantly with one hand, and allows you to guide with more precision.........If you had a muscle disease, you would understand better what I am trying to explain.......

I'm afraid I still totally don't get how there is any difference between a bag and a baggie, with regard to the hand movements required to use them for icing.
