topic Question re: fine line cracks in temptations in Kitchen

I have a baker that has fine line cracks in it. I have been looking at these boards for awhile and just had a thought (better late than never): Are they safe to use? They are not big cracks, just in the top layer. I got to thinking about something someone wrote that led me to think they might be unsafe (from a lead standpoint). Should I dispose of them? I would like your comments. (This is a very early set of Christmas bakers; my newer ones do not have this problem at all.) THANKS!
