I'm a novice at cooking but I love having all the tools. I, at this late stage in my life, would love to make pie crust like my mother did all those many years ago. Of course she never used a food processor but I would like to purchase one. For the most part I have Kitchen aid appliances, and know there are strong supporters in both camps. I am looking at the 9 cup capacity size, since there is just the two of us. Any and all opinions are asked for and welcomed!!!

Cuisinart.....person in Sur La Table put it this way...mixer? Go KitchenAid. Food processor? Go Cuisinart. I think she said those are what most people choose because that's what made each company famous. I listened and never looked back. Love my Cuisinart.

I'll be the lone KitchenAid supporter. I first purchased a Cuisinart food processor and tore up the motor, the very first time I used it. I returned it to Kohl's and exchanged it for the KitchenAid one, in the same size. I have used the same bread recipe, the one that killed the Cuisinart, countless times in the KitchenAid food processor with no problems. If you think that you may ever want to make bread dough in it, you will want to get one larger than a 9-cup. Mine is a 13-cup, but it also came with a smaller bowl, as well.

My food processor experience happened, probably, just over a year ago. They sure don't make things like they used to.

I also tore up the gears on my 20 year-old KA stand mixer (bread again!). My husband decided to buy me a new KA stand mixer for my birthday. Guess what? I burned out the motor, the very first time I used it to make bread dough. That one got returned to the store (BB&B) for a refund. My husband replaced the gear in my old KA stand mixer and it's been purring along, just fine, ever since. Everything is disposable, nowadays. It's a shame.

Hi MILKI,

My first two cents would be to ask that you consider not using a food processor to make pie crust. The less the ingredients are handled or processed, the better the crust. I still use a really old pastry blender when I make pie crust.

To your main point, I have 2 Kitchen Aid stand mixers which I love and would never replace with another brand. No other Kitchen Aid appliances are found in my kitchen.

I have 2 Cruisinart food processors which I likewise love and would never replace with another brand.

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing both items, so for me each purchase was a given. I'd suggest reading as many reviews as you possibly can (perhaps on Amazon, where they must have at least hundreds). I did this when I wanted to purchase a toaster oven, because we had never owned one. Ended up reading 233 reviews (yes, I actually read that many and am glad I did).

On my end, I always say spend as much as you can afford for the best possible quality and warranty from a reputable vendor. I'd be very disinclined to puchase such from this vendor.

Hope you're satisfied with your purchase.

Hi, I agree with the no pie crust in the processor! I believe the KA is simple to use. The Cuisinart has a larger wattage. For bread, pizza, etc you need the most watts you can get. So it depends on your use! Sonnie

I love my cuisinart. Tried a new KA, needed a larger bowl for cheese straws, used first time and it failed, return for a new one and it also had a problem. Enough for me, ordered cuisinart and it is wonderful. Gave my smaller one to my son and it still works. My Mr. Brown Pants upon delivering the 3rd food processor asked why was I getting all these heavy deliveries (he's a good friend). Must say I would never trade my KA stand mixer for anything else. (have not tried any other kind). My son also has my old one and it's still going strong.

I have a KA processor and I love it....it's got the wide mouth so you don't have to "prep the food" before prepping the food. It processes everything from little radishes to large potatoes. I love, love, love the adjustable slicing blade. I haven't used it yet, and they were not including it when I bought mine, but I am really looking forward to using the French fry attachment. I have made bread dough with no problems.
