Question about Pinterest?

I recently joined Pinterest and am lost on there. I found several recipes that I want to print out and cannot figure out how to print them. I have even tried to copy and paste them on my Word program but it will not work. If I hit the print button on my computer I get several pages and all I want is the recipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum but I had no clue as to where I could find out how to get a recipe off of there. I also posted this in Among Friends. TIA

I usually just use the recipe right from the Pinterest site like using a cookbook. Have you tried to right click and choose the print option or the copy/paste option highlighting only the recipes. Many pins also have the option at the top to Send or Share and you can send it to your email and then print it. Hope this helps!!

You can do a "Prt Scr" and paste into Word but you get the whole screen not just the recipe. I have had no problem copying. Once you click on the recipe page, hit the print button, X out the little print box and copy by highlighting the wording. Copy and paste by using Edit, copy and paste. Hope it works for you.

It totally messed up my computer and loaded several things that I did not want on my computer. I had to remove them all. I decided that it was not worth it so I deactivated my account to Pinterest. Thanks again.

I loved Pinterest, it's great fun. I admit, I'm technologically challenged and I never figured out how to print. Once some says "download" I just say forget about it.....I fear messing up my laptop or my Kindle.....I don't need to print anything that bad. I have recipes in my Pinterest recipe file, I can take my tablet into the kitchen when I cook.

I love Pinterest!

You are printing from the original website where the recipe was posted, not Pinterest. You click on the image within Pinterest, then click again on the large image and it redirectes you to the original website where the image was posted (with the recipe, in your case).

From there you can either copy and paste to Word, as Lolakimono suggested, but that is not necessary unless you want to save it in Word. She is right that you want to highlight just the part you want to print and copy that.

Control+P = print and you will get a pop-up box to preview your printing. If you don't want to print the whole darn thing, just select the pages you want, then hit print. Don't give up so easily!

You might have to occasionally update Adobe Acrobat, but it is about a 10 second process, and honestly, you shouldn't need to update it more than once in a blue moon. Why did you have to update Java???

If I find a recipe I like on pinterest, and it is something I want to print, I click on it to find the original posted recipe. When I click on the yummy looking photo it just takes me to the pinterest post. This is the post that the person posted to his/her pinterest account. Then I click on the photo again. This may take you to the original post of the recipe. This may be a website or a blog where the recipe was posted. If I get to another pinterest account, I may have to click again on the photo to get to the original post of the recipe. I think many people post a recipe from another pinterest account instead of the original website, so it may take more than one click to get to the original. I hope this makes sense.

After I get to the original post of the recipe I can pin it to my pinterest account. If I want to print the recipe, I copy & paste the recipe to a word document and save it to my computer in the correct recipe folder, such as "desserts". Then I print it from there. So, I have a paper copy, I have a copy in my computer recipe file, and I have it pinned in my recipe file on pinterest.

If you don't care to save a file to your computer, just skip that step. Highlight the recipe, right click on the highlighted portion and then click on print.

Or, if you want to skip printing altogether, just get to the original post of the recipe and save it to your pinterest account. That way you can easily find it again when you want to make the recipe. And, you are saving paper. This is also good if you want to try it before you want to save it on your computer or print it out.

You can practice a little to get comfortable and know how it works. In the search bar on pinterest type in a recipe you want to make. Such as baked oatmeal. Scroll down until you see something you are interested in. Such as Baked Apple Oatmeal. I clicked on the photo and it took me to the pinterest post. This says it was found on betty crocker. I click on it again and it takes me to the original post on bettycrocker.com. So I can copy the recipe from there, print it from there, or pin it to my pinterest account to find later.

Hope this helps!

I get some good recipes from Pinterest, but you have to be sure you get to the original site.

I usually repin to my recipe board where I can find them easily. I usually don't print them and just look at the screen.

First repin to your board

then be sure the site is the correct when to print from

luvsbulldogs,

I am so very glad you have received excellent replies about how to use Pinterest. I was going to take you step by step, but at the time I was on my Kindle, which does not let me post here.

When I read that you had "deactivated" your account, I really wanted to reply, since I LOVE Pinterest. I "follow" a lot of sites (Kraft, All Recipes, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, to name a few) that I used to visit. The sites that I follow will automatically come up on the Pinterst page. I follow certain blogs I have come to like, such as Six Sisters and Closet Cooking, among others.

Pinterest is now the first place I search for recipes. I was also a cookbook collector and that has cut down almost completely, which is a good thing for me since my shelves are full and I could never even use all the cookbooks I have now!

Pinterest has also proven good for the environment as I never print recipes anymore, so I am saving paper!

On the Pinterest homepage I click on the little arrow to the right of search and just go to the food and drink category (or go to any category you're interested in). If I see something I like, I click on it, select one of my boards and pin it. If I want to see the recipe I click the picture again to read the recipe and pin it (or you could print it, if you want).

Pinterest has gotten me so organized it is unbelievable! Here are some of the boards I have: Appetizers, Breakfast, Cookies, Desserts, Entrees, Crockpot, Pasta Dishes, Potato Dishes, Vegetables, Salads, Sides, Soups, Pork and Chicken. I have boards by occasion to: Christmas, Fourth of July, Father's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Superbowl. I have a board for crafts and also shopping and gift ideas.

I hope you give Pinterest another try! It is fantastic!

Gloria
