This is NOT a 1.5 star rating from Consumer Affairs, per se, it's ratings given by customers - and if you'd bother to read them, you'd see that most are complaints about employees, with some non-verifiable stories about people who claimed to get sick after eating TJ products. Hmmm...so, did they eat ONLY items from TJ, which makes them so certain that that was what caused their becoming ill? One person claimed to get food poisoning from a watermelon. Well. it's remotely possible, but ONLY if the watermelon is cut, and TJs sells only whole watermelons. Mostly the complaints there are from ignorant people.

As for the original article, it's mere opinion; I wouldn't give it any credibility.

And you read "Prevention" magazine, too. Right?

You'd best know that if you're going to take a commodity or concern under attack, you had better have the best possible references possibly available: the more scientific the better. And, oh, that means NOT the ones that suit your agenda.

If, indeed, Trader Joe's is and has been as bad as you say, they would be out of business.

Thank you for this. I wouldn't call TJ's an evil empire, but it helps to know as much as possible about our food suppliers. TJ's are smart marketers. I'll still buy a few things there. But a regular supermarket, presumably more transparent than TJ's and just as price-competitive, is fine for my everyday needs.

Ok got it

I like to know what is being fed to my family. Don't you? There are only a few items I will buy there because I know what the Brand is and what they package and from where the ingredients came.

Trader Joe's earned almost 1.5 stars out of five at Consumer Affairs.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/supermarkets/trader_joe.html

Since you also started a thread about this in Viewpoints and it has had quite a discussion there, it leads one to wonder what your problem really is with Trader Joe's.
