Please, don’t buy wet scallops. If the fish-counter person doesn’t know (lame, don’t shop there), you can usually tell by the appearance of the scallops. Wet scallops are plump and bright white and often clump together in milky blobs, while dry scallops have more natural beige or pink hues.

This is from Google!

I remember going with my grandfather out in his skiff during low tide to dig clams and scallops. We'd bring them back and he'd open them and make clam fritters and fried scallops. Can't get any fresher than that.

Love seafood in general but scallops are one of my favorites. That sounds good for dinner and I haven't had any for awhile. Will have to check at the store today and see if they have any *fingers crossed*

My mother cooked scallops and prawns in her old deep fat fryer. They were the best. Batter nicely browned on the outside, scallops and prawns tender and juicy on the inside. Prices were cheaper then, still a little pricey, and we ate and ate.

I love them - at least I love sea scallops. I have never really liked the little calico scallops: they've always had an off chemical taste. I do have a question....when I buy scallops, I have always been told to go for the pink ones because they are sweet, but what exactly are "dry" scallops? Poodlepet
