I bought a Deni grill several years ago from QVC. It's been great. We've had steaks, fish, kebobs, sausages and chicken on it. I have also grilled vegetables. I love this grill. It has a glass lid and cleans up very well.

First of all let me say I love buying kitchen gadgets and I really shouldn't watch ITKWD. I now realize I desperately need an indoor grill. I have a problem when cooking meat on the gas barbecue. I tend to burn everything. I am hoping that one of these devices will allow me to cook the meat property. I am not really a meat eater so normally I am barbecuing hamburgers or steaks along with vegetables for my husband. I have researched both of the grills mentioned and I'm still not sure which one I should buy. Or maybe there's another brand that is better. Do you have one that you really like?

I have never had a George Forman but I have had a Cuisinart Griddler for several years. It is small, easy to clean, easy to store. I love it. Use it for sandwiches, lamb chops, steaks, vegetables, pineapple, etc. I used to grill lamb sausages on last week end. I owned several electric grills before this one and they never got hot enough.

I've owned two George Foremans, one shaped like a white Space Ship (and is now still fully functional and in our trailer).... and one that I bought years ago as an upgrade because it came with removable grills and I have loved them both!! They drain away the fat (runs off into a tray) and produces a great product. Easy to clean and store. Will grill anything. I bought mine about ten years ago and it was made very well, sturdy and the finish has stayed even putting the grills into the dishwasher on occasion.

Between those two, I'd choose the Cuisinart.

I had a couple of GF contact grills in the beginning, but the two things I didn't like were that the surface slopes down and it was hard to get something to stay put and quickly close the lid, and the grease tray on the counter thing - an accident waiting to happen for a klutz like me.

What I've been using for quite a few years now is Hamilton Beach brand. I like them because the grates are angled up so that you have a flat cooking surface and the grease tray slides into the side, instead of setting on the counter. The bottoms of the channels are what slope down toward the grease tray, allowing you to have a level cooking area. I hope all that made sense.

But, if I ever need to get a new one I will also check out the Cuisinarts. The HB brand ones have been great, though. The plates remove for easy cleaning, which I like too.

I've had a George Foreman forever. I just wipe the plates off quickly with wet paper towels while it is still hot, before we even eat. I even do scallops wrapped in bacon, which tend to leave a sticky mess. I've never used Pam on it and I rarely wash it with soap. I do coat some things with a light film of oil. I figure the heat is sterilizing it.

Needed to replace our George Foreman, so the wife and I went with this:

http://optigrill.t-falusa.com/

Cooking plates easily removable for cleaning, you select the meat you're cooking, pre-heat it, and when you close it up it automatically measures the thickness of the meat and tells you with a colored indicator when it's reached the proper doneness you want. We've used it with hamburgers, steaks, and hotdogs so far. Settings are also there for pork, fish, and chicken. It may be a bit pricey for some ($179), but it works very well so far.

Neither. They don't tilt to remove grease. The only one I like is the Breville. Yeah, it's not as cheap but I won't be replacing it any time soon. I do all my meat cooking on it. The plates heat up to the right temp and they heat up evenly. You can tilt it to drain the fat.

I love the Cuisinart. It occurred to me this summer that I wasn't using it enough-and it was just too hot and humid to use the gas grill. I bought this fabulous cook book called ""125 best Indoor Grill recipes"" by Ilana Simon. It is a must and will really expand your repertoire. Poodlepet

Only had the George Foreman grills, small one the first time then a larger one years later. Enjoy how it slants down just enough for the grease to run off, not enough of a slant for the food to fall off, mine has 4-5 different "grills", one is to make waffles in, Have never had a big problem with the cleaning of it. Have used it for just about everything, burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc.

Not sure if you have already purchased your grill but I have both of the grills you are interested in. I like them both, the Forman has a more precise temp control than the Cuisinart, but the Cuisinart is the one we like and use the most. The Forman takes lots more space as well. It takes an entire large plastic bin for the grill and it accessories in my cupboard. The Cuisinart takes half the space.

I just don't buy Foreman stuff anymore. I didn't find my grill held up well (coating) and the Cuisinart is better looking and stores more easily in the cupboard (I keep my small appliances on a lazy susan style corner cabinet.) Space is an issue.
