I won't waste money on anything less, it's just not worth it b/c they do not hold up, they're light weight, and very flimsy/bend.

Find yourself a great pattern and go for it - enjoy your beautiful table.

The designation 18/10 doesn't have anything to do with the quality or weight of flatware. It simply means that nickel has been added so it will maintain its shine.

18/10 has to do with the quality of the metal for sure.

You are mistaken. If I hadn't known what I was talking about, I wouldn't have posted it.

"Choose brands and styles with the highest ratio of chromium and nickel. Flatware with an 18/8 and 18/10 designation are identical and will hold their luster and shine for years to come. Flatware with an 18/0 designation is still of acceptable quality but will not hold its luster for as many years."

Keep in mind that the flatware that the Q sells is much larger than what you would buy locally. I don't know why they have to do that. I think the regular size is much easier to eat from.

just posted above....I bought the tsv Lenox silverware set. It's just beautiful & certainly worthy for company. I have a set of sterling silver & I still use my Lenox all of the time. As I stated above, I handwash it...only takes a couple of mins. (just two of us) I don't want it to get all banged up in the dishwasher. Don't hesitate to buy it.

I bought the Lenox 18/10 stainless set (H196303) in the devoted pattern and it is beautiful. I use this as my everyday and also for company. My guests usually comment on the weight and how solid and substantial they are.

I think they are much nicer and heavier than Oneida, which I have owned in the past and liked. This set is in the continental size as opposed to the American size and I prefer the larger size. I have only seen Oneida in the American size.

I will only buy flatware in 18/10 stainless. I throw them in the dishwasher, no babying and they come up perfect everytime.

One other thing, the reason I chose this particular set is I like the additional pieces. This set includes cocktail & dessert forks as well as iced tea spoons. I use all of these pieces. Some other sets buy Leno or Reed & Barton instead include steak knives. For me, the long spoons and small forks are more functional.

I think as long as you stick with an 18/10 set, you won't be disappointed.

Here's my take on tableware - as long as they're 18/10 I'm in. I won't waste money on anything less, it's just not worth it b/c they do not hold up, they're light weight, and very flimsy/bend.

Find yourself a great pattern and go for it - enjoy your beautiful table.

On 8/22/2014 jbnh said:

I got this set as well! I have place settings for 12 of the Kate Spade New York Union Street which is VERY similar to this in pattern and weight, and also made by Lenox I think, and another long-time Lenox pattern (Vintage Jewel?).

We use it when we have a lot of people as extras, and I got the serving pieces which are great too. I think this set is an excellent buy and something you would be happy to put on the table! LOVE the small forks and tea spoons--we use the small forks for desserts and fruit all the time.

Also check out the website silversuperstore for more patterns and LOTS of information and separate pieces.
