I have had crazing in items I have never even used yet.

This was OW, Christmas snowflake and polka dot pattern items.

I have bakers from Lidia's old line that are about 4 years old. I use them at least once a week and they are perfect...I even wash them in the dishwasher now too. They were also made in China...so I think it's the TT items and the way they cut corners to keep the prices low.

Those Lydia bakers are the best quality, and I paid less for them (on clearance) than most of my TT. There are some good ceramic lines coming out of China, but TT (although I have a lot and love the look) isn't really of very good quality.

I wonder if it is one particular pattern - OW - that cracks more often? The reason I say this is that I have never had any cracks and I don't buy any OW. So it make me wonder if that particular pattern is the problem.

Not by my experience. I bought the 13" x 9" rooster pan and on its second use, a huge, deep crack developed along the bottom and the pan discolored badly. It didn't break apart, but the crack was so long and deep that it most certainly would have had I continued to use it.

I ended up throwing the pan away and keeping the metal rack and plastic lid which fit a Latina 13" x 9" that I bought on QVC. Incidentally, I've used the Latina in the oven many times and it doesn't even have any cracks or crazing. That tells me that the problem is with the TT line exclusively, and not necessarily a particular pattern or other stoneware made in China.

You all don't have to get nasty - I'm just trying to come to a reason why this happens to everyone else but me. I have the seashell pattern- the daisy pattern in black and some polka dot- a 9 x 13 with a lid it and an 8 x8 -here at camp I have the new gingham pattern and an old d/c rooster pattern casseroles and have not as yet experienced any cracking, crazing or breaking and I use them daily, and put them on the top rack of my dishwasher when I'm home. The only OW I have is the bread box and, of course, it just sits out on the counter.

My first set of Temptations was a limited edition pattern in cream and yellow with red roses and green leaves --- it was beautiful. The large baker cracked sitting in my cabinet - it had never seen the inside of an oven, refrigerator or freezer - just my cabinet. The two smaller ones cracked after one time making sweet potato casserole. They sent me a new one to replace the large baker - of course the original pattern was not available, so they sent me Old World. After a few times of making mac & cheese, that one cracked. It's the only Old World one that I used. I have one large Old World Baker that I'm now afraid to use in the oven, so it sits in my cabinet unused. Guess I will use it for cold dishes.

I don't own any OW pieces. My pieces that have cracked and crazed are Floral Lace pieces. I have some older pieces of other patterns that give me no issues at all. I was so excited when floral lace came out. I bought so many different pieces to have in my kitchen. If I had known that Temptations was now making junk, I wouldn't have invested so much in them. There's just no way to know if the piece you are buying will hold up or not....some people have good, sturdy pieces and some people end up with doody

It's not cracked badly, just crazed, but I'd never put it in the oven.

BTW, I've been trying to get a message to you for three days about your post to me on a thread that is no longer here. I appreciated what you posted to me, and have been trying to tell you that I very much appreciate your thoughtful and intelligent posts, even though we do sometimes disagree. And to tell you that you are a tenacious researcher -- don't know if you saw any of my attempts. I'm getting paranoid about posting anything lately because it seems everything I post on winds up disappearing.

And judging from what happened to me the other day, someone may come on this thread and tell me that I'm annoying them by posting what they consider a "personal message" here!

Thank you!

I AM getting discouraged. I notice things disappear when some people run out of arguments or discover what I said was correct. So then they shut down the whole shebang!!! Usually by posting a personal insult.

I'll be back to working LONG days soon as my season heats up....so they can talk amongst themselves!

BTW - I'm not always right and I'll say so. And I never discuss someone's personal motivations for anything...how can I? We don't really "know" each other!

I do like disagreements and sharing of opinions...it's fun. Who wants to hang out only with people who agree with us all the time?

I mentioned to my son last night that since I'm not working and don't have that "mind stimulation" nearly as much anymore, the really good discussions here keep me sharp because they stimulate me to think, do research, etc. and keep learning in the process. There are some great things about these forums, but it's just getting to the point this last week that I'm thinking "why bother", if all the good debates are constantly deleted. Anyway, just wanted to respond, and I'm sure we'll meet on another discussion - just hope it stays long enough to even have a debate!

So IMO, the implication in your opening post is that you still just refuse to accept others' experiences if they don't jibe with yours.

As for "nasty," I guess you're referring to the posts in which people are simply answering the question you are supposedly posing here.

I bought Temp-tations for the first time over a year ago. Since I was anticipating a kitchen remodel, now happening, I havn't used any Temp-tations. After I had bought quite a bit, I began reading about the cracking, so now I am afraid to cook in them. I don't buy anymore bakers, just bowls and items that are not used for baking. I will probably use one when they are unpacked, just to see what happens.

I read with interest the comments. I too have some cracking and I put all bake ware brands on a larger foiled lined pan to bake. I never put my bake ware on an oven rake. 2 different Temptations bakers cracked. One platter cracked in the microwave as I cooked bacon. I have decided that I will only buy "as is". There are problems with painting, chipped spots and etc. So from now on "as is" and sparingly at best. My nerves can not take the guess work, first is it chipped and then will it crack during baking? Be well.

I was going to buy the polka dot pattern at the Q store. A shopper saw me with it in hand and said," Don't waste your money. It cracks." Needless to say,I listened snd I 'm glad I did.
