I wanted to make shrimp canton for last night's dinner. I needed a recipe. I don't know where my mind was and I googled shrimp tampon. Trust me. There are no recipes. After a few minutes, the correct name came to me. Google must have thought I was looking for mini tampons.

Let me say I have never cleaned shrimp before. So I start by taking off the shells. After I did a few, I noticed a dark stringy thing coming out of the shrimp. I pull it out. After a while it occurs to me this might be their waste material. So I have go back and remove it from the ones I already did. A lot of us would lose bowel control when faced with certain death. Why did this not happen to the shrimp when they were caught in a net? Anyway, it took me over an hour to clean 2.1 pounds of 41/50 shrimp. This is now my least favorite cooking chore.
