coconut water at Costco

I couldn't find the kind I usually buy, but they had "coco libre" . it was kind of expensive, but tomorrow, they have it for 3 dollars off. Has anyone tried it? What did you think? I just use it for smoothies. TIA

I had a sample of coconut water ate Cosco about a monthe ago.

I don't know what brand it was.

I hated the taste of it, was very bitter. But this was just straight

coconut water in a little cup.

I have no idea what it would be like in smoothies.

Actually, that was the first time I have heard of selling coconut water.

In theory I know I should like coconut water,but I just can't get behind it. It just tastes so odd. Maybe it's like cilantro or gin...gotta try it more than a few time to like it.

Costco has a great return policy on anything.

Costco has a great return policy on anything.

I didn't like it either.

ALL supermarkets will do that if you hold on to your receipt.

At least I know Trader Joes, WF and Wegmans will.

QVC will too.

One time I bought a coconut cake at Wegmans for a dinner party. It turned out they made it with WAY too much salt and no sugar - I think they confused the two.

When I brought it back and told them NOT to sell any more...they laughed and said I didn't need to return the leftovers - and I didn't need a reason - just the receipt for cash refund. With no receipt, you get a gift card for that amount.

I love coconut water. I think my expectation of taste was off the first time I tried it but I have gotten used to it. That is my drink of choice after each of my running sessions. It does not have the sugar that a sports drink has but has what the body needs after a hot/sweaty work out. My favorite it Zico but I am pretty much open to what is on sale.

They some come with fruit juice added like peach mango but I kind of like it plain. It takes some time to get used to.

It's just a different brand/distributor. Compare the labels. They both state pure, non concentrated coconut water as the ingredient, so it's the same product. I love it straight up, but it must be chilled-notroom temp-which is how they give samples. Not the best way to judge/taste it. Anyway, its a fantastic addition to everyone's diet, including children. Much better than the sugar filled juice boxes.

I like coconut so I assumed I'd like coconut water....wrong. It certainly doesn't taste like you'd expect it to. Used in a smoothie or with some Mio flavoring, it might be ok, but plane gets the "ick face" from me. I'd really like to like it since it's so good for you. I'm headed out today for my big Costco trip. Maybe I'll give it another try since it's on sale.

I think the taste is unexpected too. I didnt like it. But, I use it in my smoothies and dont taste it at all. I got a case when Costco had them on sale a few weeks ago.

I buy coconut water at Safeway. It is yummy and I drink,it straight. My daughter thinks it is gross.

I am going to admit my stupidity here, but I have always wondered is coconut water the same stuff you would get if you cracked open a fresh coconut and drank the juice inside…or is that coconut milk…or are all three different things? If so, what do you call the juice you would get if you cracked open a fresh coconut and drank the liquid? I know I like that stuff. I am just not sure about the terminology. Can anybody help enlighten me, please? Thanks for any help you can provide.

P.S. Where can you buy the liquid inside a fresh coconut without having to crack it open yourself?

Coconut water IS that "liquid inside a fresh coconut...." that you can buy pretty much anywhere these days, even Walmart.

I sampled one of those cup fulls at Costco too. I didn't care for it either. It was salty tasting or something to me....it's hard to explain. That being said my daughter loves it.

The brand that I got from Costco is VitaCoco. Ingredient is 100% coconut water. It tastes great. I take about a liter me on a long hike. Previously I got another brand, which did tasted kind of salty. When I read ingredient, they ADDED electrolyte to the water. Current brand being sold at Costco is Libre.... never heard of it before.... don't intend to buy it at this time.

That's how I feel also. I love almost everything coconut. The water is just blah for me. Now coconut/lime popsicles are to die for. I use the cream of coconut for those.

I personally think all the coconut oil/flour/whatever is just the next big fad. I'm not using any of it.
