Work party at my house, what to serve?

I am having a work party of probably 5 guys. All the work being done is at no charge. I will be feeding them lunch. I am considering meatball subs, potato salad, fruit and cold drinks. Do I need to fill out the menu, or make it more nibblish? Is this too heavy of a meal? Imput please.

I recently had a few guys at my house doing some work. I grilled up burgers for them, then had all the fixings and various sides (chips, potato salad, fruit salad). It was a big hit. What guy doesn't like a good burger?

These are guys. They'll eat anything that's brown or yellow. Example: potatoes, potato chips, potato salad, fries, burgers, hotdogs, pizza, hot wings, bread sticks, meatballs, etc.

Guys like meat and bread, the basics... nothing delicate. Burgers, subs, they will devour! Have fun :-)

Why not ask the guys what they want to eat. Give them what they want. You can add a few surprises to your menu.

Kitty: right on. Keep it basic and simple and they will enjoy whatever you fix for them. Don't forget to put out lots of cold drinks and cold water too. Do get back here with us later and tell us what you ended up serving them, and how much they liked it!!

How about some sort of skillet meal--old fashioned goulash or something like that served over rice, noodles, etc.

Subs are always a hit with guys......a meat and cheese tray with all the fixings, meatballs in a crockpot, baked beans or potato salad or slaw, burgers if you want I fire up the grill or order pizza and fix a green salad .......... A tray of cookies or a cake...... Guys like sweets.... Plenty of soft drinks, iced tea or lemonade........just make it simple, I am sure that they will enjoy!!!

Second choice would be sub sandwiches, chips and cold drinks. They might not even want the chips. But all men that I know would vote for the pizza.

I agree, PIZZA. Get lots. They can have a couple slices for lunch, and another slice at afternoon break.

I just read all the replies, and I think this (your original idea) is perfect.

Yes, most guys like pizza, but it's very easy for them to get pizza on their own, and it would be pretty simple for you to order it too. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's just not special enough, IMO.

It sounds to me as though you want to make an effort to show your gratitude, and I think the menu you're suggesting would do that. And I also think they would love it. Your instincts are good - I vote for what you suggested above!

I am going with the subs. Probably eat out on porch. I'll have everything set up inside. Potato salad, melon. I'm gonna line the rolls with provolone. Maybe I'll do my lemon squares and some brownies. Undecided, but yes I need dessert for sure. Personally I've never met a guy who didn't like meatballs.

I think subs are a good idea, especially in hot weather. I just thought a little more variety with the meats and vegetables, kid of like subway where you build you own. It could be expensive too. It's only 5 guys though so if they all like meatballs that's good.

Yes, Kittyloo, I agree the guys will appreciate what you serve them without a doubt. That's a kind gesture. Pizza or KFC are also favorite foods guys enjoy.
