It seems that Temp-tations is copying Valerie, as this item, and others, is similar to items Valerie used to make.

I am neutral about the bowl as I think the leaves will be easily broken with use, but I love the plates. I tend to use my TT a lot more for serving than cooking anyway.

This is also based on an old Shawnee piece of pottery that was famous back in the 1950's. They did a whole line of corn dishes and serveware. I still have a couple of pieces from my grandmother's collection, and I prefer them over this version. I'm so glad to not be interested in this one, as I can hardly keep up with those I really want to get.

I collect old pottery and have a lot of the Shawnee corn pieces.

This TT is NOTHING like the originals...I just checked the reviews...on the first page of reviews...almost EVERYONE had sets that came with broken pieces!!!!

Yet some STILL gave it top reviews and are ordering replacement pieces.

What is wrong with people???? Will they never learn?

The Shawnee Pottery Co. made these in the 50s...there are earlier versions too.

I have Shawnee and Pfalzgraf corn dishes...MUCH sturdier.

Shawnee corn pieces are on the Bay...reasonable prices too.

i may order this set, but yes, i agree.....they need to have the corn plates sold separately. i will order it when the holiday returns go into effect. this will give me a chance to use them to see if there are going to be any problems with breakage. i have been lucky with the items i have purchased from temptations......going all the way back to when they first came on qvc. my most recent purchases were the dragonfly pieces which i LOVE!

I looked also and you are right about those reviews, they came broken in the package so it sounds as if they are having a packing problem and/or nowadays it could be that delivery is so rough...tossed, dropped,etc. during transit...who knows but giving a product such bad reviews just because it came broken and nothing to do with the actual product in a review, IMO, would not be worth taking into consideration if I was looking to purchase these, and even tho a piece was recieved broken, most of the reviews still say how beautiful the set is & that' s why they are wanting replacements!!

If it breaks that easily in bubble wrap - I don't think it's a stretch to think it will happen again with use. Delivery that rough from buyer after buyer? I doubt it....they are pretty, but defective.

It might be beautiful on a shelf - but I usually buy tableware to USE.

i agree gkelly.....definitely worth a purchase if you like the look.....especially since it is backed by qvc!

How long do you think it will be before that loose end of husk breaks off? Even if you do get a good piece? Poor design.

The reviews for the corn pieces almost ALL say they arrived broken - some in many pieces. Yet the buyers LOVED them... Huh???? How could you love an item that is so fragile it arrives in pieces??? Person after person...and these are just the people who took the time to post reviews.

What am I missing here????
