When you make hard boiled eggs, after the water boils, turn the heat off and let the pot sit on the burner for a while. This for some reason makes the shell peel right off. Learned this on the Food Network Channel.

Forgot to add that doing this method, you will not see a gray ring around the yolk either.

Steam them in a steamer basket just like veggies. After the water comes to a boil place the eggs in the basket. Replace lid and steam for ten minutes. Then remove eggs and crack each shell lightly and place in a bowl of iced water. Leave for a few minutes then peel. The peels come off so easily this way.

I run a little cool water in the pan so I can pick up the eggs while they're still very warm, hit the egg lightly on the counter or sink edge until the shell is cracked all over, then start at one end and peel under warm running water, the peel will usually come off in one or two pieces.

I bring to boil, cover and let sit in for 15 mins. for hard boiled. I then pour off the hot water and run cold over the eggs in the pan, peel. It is very aggravating when they want peel! I am sure we've all had this happen at one time or other.

This problem occurs with very fresh eggs. Eggs that have been in your refrigerator a week or two will peel more easily. Eggs keep at least a month under refrigeration.

That's my take on it too sandy53. The fresher the egg, the more likely not to peel nicely. I have always been told to add some salt to the water when boiling, which I do. I think someone told me once it made the shell easier to remove. I don't know whether that works or not. But I do know that if you've had your eggs for a couple of weeks, they peel much better.

I also learned a little trick from an aunt, who told me that when I buy fresh eggs, I should put a little pencil mark on the older ones to be sure I use them first. It does meme it easier to find the older eggs in the basket! Helps DH keep them straight also.

Mine come out perfect if I cover with water, bring to a boil and let boil 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add cold water...and then pour off all the water. Cover again with cold water and knock each egg to make cracks in the shell. Let sit a few minutes, so the water goes under the shell. They peel easily and turn our perfect!

So many different ways!
