Nathan's Fries

I've been able to either find some of my favorite foods from NYC on-line or even locally - I have my Gabila's knishes ordered twice a year or so, Publix has started to carry Ba-Tempe pickles, Entenmann's is becoming more popular, etc., but one thing I've really missed and of course couldn't get shipped is the fries from Nathan's. They're a class by themselves - thick, crinkle cut, nice and greasy....

Well, the other day I saw a new product in Publix: frozen Nathan's fries, and they were BOGO to boot! I figured I'd try them, not expecting much - especially since I'm not a fan of frozen fries anyway. I just had some with my dinner, and you know what? They're pretty darned good! Probably as close to the original as I'll ever get outside of NYC.

I've seen them in frozen food sections of supermarkets for years.

I grew up with the original's and still get them locally - and yes, they are soooo good!

I've never seen them before, Susan - maybe they were a regional thing until recently.

I used to love to go to Nathan's in Times Square for lunch: burger, hot dog, and fries! I think there's something else there now - Junior's? Do you know?

I buy them frozen at my local Publix. I do miss going to Nathan's in Westbury, LI and Oceanside, LI. But the frozen ones are pretty good.

I love knishes ever since we were at Coney Island on the boardwalk, fell in love with them there but of course can't get them anyplace around here or none that taste like that that's for sure. We are in northeast Pa and no Publix either around here, no Trader Joes either.

Why don't you request this from your local supermarket? I've put in requests at Publix, and sometimes I get lucky when they get the product in the store.

I edited to add, I have no idea where on the boardwalk we ate those knishes so have no idea what brand to ask for?

I grew up on the lower east side of NYC. I remember there was a small knish store there - and they also sold potato-nik. I remember going to Coney Island and getting those great hot dogs & fries & at Nathan's. I've been in southern California for many years - and can't find anything to compare.

Yonah Schimmel is still there, just a block or two from Katz's! I grew up on Mrs Stahls knishes - but they closed down for good several years back. They were the absolute best!!

Knish lovers, rejoice! I found a place that ships them, and the price (and shipping) is reasonable. Bookmark this site!

I don't think they'll ship in July & August, though - last year they sent an email and said they couldn't, but maybe second day is an option (albeit an expensive one) if you can't wait. I usually get mine via regular UPS.

Don't forget to get the Sabrett mustard to go with them.

I live in Brooklyn NY and literally a 10 minute drive from Nathans.. Believe it or not I hardly go there,but I buy the frozen fries all the time. They are not as good,but good in a pinch..A few weeks ago I wanted the REAL NATHANS FRIES..so we took a quick drive over to nathans and I had my craving filled..MMMMMMMMMMMM

Isn't it funny how we don't take advantage of the places near us when we can? When I lived on the other side of Brooklyn, I'd occasionally go to Junior's. When I moved to Brooklyn Heights and could walk there, I never went - now I wish I had.

As for Nathan's, I also loved their clam chowder!
