I've seen so many different ways of doing it, I don't know which way is best. Some people use regular or powdered sugar added either the beginning or when soft peaks form. How do you make yours? I want to make strawberry shortcake this weekend and would like to make great whipped cream. thanks!

I just whip it till peaks form, add a little powdered sugar and a bit of vanilla. Delicious! Actually though, I usually buy it in the spray can, I like it better!

Always best to make whip cream yourself. Use powered sugar, super fine sugar, either one. Vanilla extract, real vanilla extract, whip until softly formed peaks. Enjoy Very, very easy.

Trader Joe has it on the shelf in boxes and I keep a couple of them in frig. They whip up great. I do not add sugar, but I will try vanilla. I also use the whipping cream from the dairy section, but if you whip too much, you get butter. My Grandmother would sometime make butter this way.

heavy whipping cream from the dairy section.....beat with an electric hand blender until stiff peaks form. do not overwhip. dont forget to lick the beaters.

i use some good vanilla and 10x sugar.....added just before the cream starts to peak. keep it in a lock and lock container and it will stay fresh and stiff for several days. you can also add any other extract you want if you are using it in a recipe that may have a flavor associated with it. i have made lemon whipped cream, maple whipped cream, and strawberry whipped cream before.

Heavy cream, sugar to taste and a good vanilla. I use Penseys. I prefer it over the stuff in a can or Cool Whip. Just beat until you get stiff peaks, it could take a few minutes but just keep whipping with a hand mixer until you do.

A trick I learned is to put your mixer beaters and bowl into the freezer for fifteen minutes or so before you whip the cream. This allows you to whip the cream to stiff peak stage faster and lessens the chance of overwhipping. I used to use a hand mixer. These days I use the whisk attachment and my stand mixer. Adding a bit of powdered sugar helps stabilize the whipped cream. Adding a bit of vanilla extract adds a nice flavor. I add both to the cream before starting to whip.

I have an old copper bowl I use (chemistry is good for whipping cream) and do chill it first. Next comes hand whipping and adding a bit of sifted powdered sugar along the way and a tic of vanilla.

My Mom always hand whipped cream for trifle at Christmas. It didn't seem to take forever when she did it. I can't do it by hand, it just doesn't work for me. I'd need a couple of weeks at least.
