I have family that has praised the Kansas City steaks. I just bought a new electric grill and have been looking at both KC and Omaha. I decided I just won't pay those prices for 5-6 oz. I'll take my chances at the supermarket with meat I can see and feel, if need be. It's not the prices per se, but the smaller than normal sized portions - THAT is the ripoff IMO. I have also heard/read many people say that the "gourmet" meat featured is no better tasting than steak you can buy at a good market with a good butcher.

There is an Omaha Steaks store near us and we used to get steaks there especially when we had company. The quality of our last purchase was poor and we haven't bought any since. May give it another try some day.

Years ago I tried several different products from the Omaha company and found that there was a really offputting taste about the meat. Something was just not right about it and I never bought any more.

I do like the KC products, but I don't buy steaks from them. I get nice ribeyes from our grocery store, so I'm happy there. But for other meat products I have always gotten good quality meat from KC, over quite a few years now.

ITA about the KC hams! I've been getting those for several years and they are the best. They aren't injected with water, salt, or that fake smoke stuff. Plus, I like that the glaze is in a packet to you can either hydrate that and use it, or make your own (which is what I do).

I was on auto-delivery for the KC herb and garlic steaks. The first shipment was great, but then I noticed the 2nd and 3rd delivery the steaks were thinner, not as thick as the original shipment. I cancelled my auto-delivery. I wondered if they do this to tempt you and then cut back on the thickness. Never tried Ohama Steaks. I am going back to the butcher and marinate my own steaks. We don't eat red meat too often though.

KC I've bought (steak wrapped with bacon - the tenderloin chunks) did NOT melt in the mouth like they promise. Tough chewing and some just didn't have any flavor. I've tried them both and haven't been impressed. My butcher gets all my meat business now.
