To which hard-copy magazines do you still subscribe?

I have been getting Good Housekeeping magazine by mail all 31 years that I've been married. There's something comforting and sentimental about it and I can't seem to cancel. I realize, though, that this is a dying medium.

Do you still subscribe to magazines?

I only get magazines IF they are free offered with purchase. My last free magazine was 6 months of people for buying some shoes from a website. I enjoyed getting it, but, never would pay for it!~

I also subscribed to GH for at least as long as you did so it was a hard decision to finally realize it has outlived its' usefulness to me. Still, it took me a few more years before I was able to let go. What finally did it for me was the amount of advertising vs the amount of useful information, the scales had tipped too far into advertising, something I'm assuming is related to the downfall of print media. I totally get why that happened, I just didn't want to pay for it.

So it's been a few years and I do not miss it at all. In fact, I recently got a "please come back to us" letter with an offer that was really too good to even be true and I was tempted but I remembered why I discontinued my subscription and I could only imagine things were even worse so I took a pass.

Runners world. I like the hard copy. I just recently stopped the hard copy of Vanity Fair, but I'm thinking I may start again - not liking the digital version.

Oh! Forgot to mention a bunch that I receive free because I purchased stuff from either HSN or Dermstore. I get In Touch, and a few home type magazines that I immediately put in the car to bring to my grandmother (they're just not my thing).

Vanity Fair, Utne Reader, Saveur, Nutrition Action, Shambala Sun, Sunset, and Mother Earth News. I like the hard copies to read since my ipad is banned from my bedroom at night.

I still get several magazines in a few different categories.

BTW, if you get on the mailing list for Discount Mags (dot com) you'll get emails periodically with deals. I mean DEALS!! The cool thing is that almost all of them apply to renewals of your existing subscriptions as well as new subs.

They are totally above board and no hidden 'auto renewal' game.

On several of my magazines I've gotten renewal deals that were prices for which I received three years renewal for a fraction of the regular one year price. One mag that costs around $80 a year, I got a three year renewal for a total of $30 ($10 a year!). That was my best score lately.

I subscribe to The Atlantic, Texas Monthly and the Texas Observer. I used to read them online for free, but then I realized that the reason my parents subscribed to public radio and TV stations and the reason I always have is because PBS and NPR can't keep doing what they do for free. I can access The Atlantic through an app on my phone now that I subscribe, but reading a magazine on a tiny phone screen is no fun.
