Thank you everyone for the answers and for the discussion!

That must be it - I do put it in the dishwasher and the microwave. Oh, well. I'll just keep buying newer ones. I never knew those two appliances could do that damage! VCamp - just have to tell you what a great idea to use your older one as a kitchen vase!

I find myself having to buy yet another Pyrex measuring cup because I can't read the red measurement lines on the outside - they have flaked off. I don't remember my mother EVER replacing hers. I wish I'd kept it! Is it just because they're not made in the US any longer - or are they? Am I doing something wrong?

I just got rid of my original from 1982ish that I bought when I first moved out on my own. The lines were all gone, but it was good for 2 cup measuring as I could still see that one. Everything else was a guess.

They are cheap at Marshalls/HomeGoods/TJ Maxx. I'm not worried about having to replace it in another 10 years. I put mine in the dishwasher, top rack.

Anyway, mine are practically antique at this point and are all fully labeled still.

Mine are 50 years old,one is 70 yrs old, neither have paint on them. The lettering is raised. They are made in the USA, but might have more lead in them than we use now a days, LOL! I never put them in microwave. I rarely use microwave come to think of it! I love them. Many of my baking supplies are antique, like bowls, meauring cups, measuring spoons, sieve, even flatware like Bakelite.

I love the 3 pour spouts, and the raised lettering is really nice, and PRACTICAL! I have 3, one is a cup and a half, the other 2 are one cup. Any old glass product, should never be put in dishwasher. The dishwasher can etch the glass, and eventually cloud it., Mine is still nice and clear. I have vintage Russel Wright glasses, and vintage Fiesta glasses. I also have many Hazel Atlas tumblers that were once peanut butter jars. I made the mistake of washing the tumblers in dishewasher in the beginning, and the clouded up. Thankfully, I used only 2 or 3 all the time, and kept the others stored!
