I've had mine for 3 or so years now. We absolutely love ours and use it everyday. My husband uses it for frozen pizzas. The man never used the oven but will use the nuwave. My power bill went down after I started using it too since it doesn't heat up the house like the oven would.

I've been contemplating buying this for a while but don't know if it's something that's repetitious of what I have or whether it would be something that I would use on a constant basis and leave on my countertop. I have a stove/oven/convection oven and a microwave; however since we have a very busy house (five of us including two kids), there's many times we don't have a lot of time or forget to take something out of the freezer. I guess that's why I'm debating whether to get it or not since it appears that it would meet that need of quick cooking, even when we've not defrosted something. I interested in hearing from those of you that have already purchased one and what your opinions are. Also, I'm concerned that there have been some reviews that say it's not so durable. What do you think?

I HAD one.....""Had"" = means have no longer. Do you have unlimited counter space? and... These miracle appliances may cook fast; but clean up can take twice as long.

I went back to the old method: thaw in microwave - bake in oven - swish (water) the baking dish and put in dishwasher. Done!

Also, a former owner. It takes up too much room when you're using it, and forget storing it. It didn't justify the trouble/space for me. If you are thinking about it because you forget to thaw meat-just do it in the microwave.

Love mine ! I have modern kitchen, though, plenty of room. Husband won't eat boiled hot dogs or boiled chicken . I can put hotdogs in and done in 10 min. he'll eat them. Put in a thawed chicken and have baked chicken in 50-60 min. depending on how browned you want it. Can 'pause' it if you want to butter it, then, press 'start' to resume. Don't have to heat up the kitchen with a big oven or a toaster oven. Clean up just put the rack and dome in dishwasher. Perfect for hot temps like down here in Tx. We have huge electric bills and can't afford to turn on a/c all day long, so, this alleviates heat issues.

Baked potatoes I spray with Crisco spray, make some slits in it, and bake for an hr. (big potato) LOL Not all that heat in house for 1 potato. I'll send you the link for their online cooking club you can look at some recipes for free, then, if you buy one, you can look at the whole website, different catagories for FREE they just want the serial # off the unit and give them a junk email so you won't be bothered with nuwave 'deals', etc.

If I had kids, that would be the ticket, let 'em make their own food, experiment, read the brochure, they send you a DVD, also, WATCH IT. Most people don't take the time to get to know their machine , then, gripe. Don't be lazy, read and watch.

Most people don't take the time to get to know their machine , then, gripe. Don't be lazy, read and watch.

Thank you for your info. I've had mine since the TSV and haven't used it. It's sitting on my counter. I don't use my big oven very often, I don't mind using the cooktop, and use the microwave often. I bought specifically to roast a chicken weekly or chicken breasts. But then I think it's not a big deal to just put a chicken in the oven so why keep this? I can't decide what to do.

A lot of reviews do not feel it really cuts the time that much and a whole chicken doesn't take that long really. I like the frozen chicken aspect but not the chemicals leaching from paper or plastic that remains for awhile in the cavity until you can take it out.

I'm concerned about the chemicals- BPA, Pthalates in plastic. Which brings me to a most important point: I cannot find out what the plastic dome or base, or any plastic parts that touches or fumes which leach into the food are made out of?

I found one area that mentioned it's the Elite model "The dome is built to withstand temperatures up to 420 degrees Fahrenheit while remaining free of harmful chemicals such as BPA." The word "such" has me worried, is it truly BPA free? It doesn't mention Pthalate free, dioxins, all of which are in most plasticde material unless specifically stated. NuWave cannot give me a direct answer! Crazy.

Is this model made only for QVC? QVC can't tell me anything either, so I wonder if we'll ever find out what the plastics are made of?

Also, do you know if this is indeed a model that's sold at NuWave's website? Same model number?

I'll probably send it back even if it does magical cookking just because nt having an absolute material content knowledge written, verfifed, etc. If you know I'd love to know.

Thanks

I do worry about Bpa and Pthalates, the less myself or my loved ones has in our bodies the better. Yes, it's true we get a lot of bad stuff in many things we do and do not know about, but if I can lessen the amounts in the things I do know about I will.

Either I find out what's in a product or I won't buy and look for other options in that category if there are options or else do without unless it's an absolute must as in a medicine, treatments necessary. I know there are other brands of this appliance which do not use plastic, so if I finally decide I do want to try this method and cannot find that this is not made from BPA and Pthalates then I'll give the others a try. I know many families with young children have bought this so I hope it does not contain Pthalates or BPA. Just wish the company would say, makes me really wonder why they won't?

thanks again.

I learned the proper way to use mine by watching the enclosed DVD featuring Chef Jennifer. She explained everything from the unpacking to preparation of meats, cookies, biscuits, eggs, baked fruit, etc. Recipe book comes with it. Then, you have the free option of going online and watching the preparation of more stuff.

http://www.nuwavecookingclub.com/asp/index.asp

I do not have a Nu Wave. I am sure I would have bought it if I did not already have something similar --a 'Big Boss'. Mine does not have convection, just is infra-red. I have a small kitchen so all space is important but find this worth the real estate. I found the item extremely valuable in the summer if I want something baked for it's crispiness like tater tots which dh loves . My regular oven adds a lot of heat to the room/house, the counter top one does not. Just one consideration.

Sharke - since you seem to like yours and have much experience, tell me what are your favorite ways to use it and have you had any mishaps or do you think you avoided that by watching the video and reading all the material. It seems the biggest negative people have stated is that either food had to cook a lot longer or it was all dried up. Would you say this was just because they hadn't used it properly? How about from frozen? What's you take on that?

LOL my number one fav kitchen gadget is the electric oval pressure cooker. I like this because it bakes and browns, as they state it's just like a regular oven just not as big or puts out as much heat in the kitchen. No clean up. I guess if something boils over you clean it up , but, anything is better then a spill over in your oven! Golly, I hate that ! what a mess this one you just wipe out the base, throw the dome and rack in dishwasher.

No, haven't put anything frozen in it. I don't work outside the home so I'm never in that much of a hurry. I thaw out in refrigerator and throw it in the nuwave (whole chicken) oh yeah I did ribs in it too. Took 20-25 minutes. They tell you to half the cooking time like 5 min on one side then flip for another 5 like on hot dogs. I made baked beans in it too.

Cookies, I still need to work on. I put frozen Schwan cookies in it and they were not quite cooked I was afraid they would burn so I removed to early. Chef Jennifer shows you how to lift up the side of the dome just a little on the gadget they give you to vent the moisture out of the unit so cookies won't be so undercooked plus you can cover them with alum or parchment paper to let them cook thru and not burn on the top. I'm still working on that. If your making big batches I would use regular oven, but, for just 2 people I don't cook more then a dozen. Even when they were a tad undercooked if you let them sit out in the air they'll harden. (LOL) We ate 'em hahahah

350`is the default oven heat, you can turn it down, but, I never have. I cooked the chicken for 30 minutes , then, paused it and buttered it down, and cooked for another 30 to get it golden brown. You can spray it too if butter is not your thing or pat oil over it. Seems like in the DVD that Chef gal was always using Olive Oil on the rack and on French fries. I'd rather use Canola or Veg oil. I would think for people who are watching fat content spraying and baking French fries would be better then deep frying. I haven't toasted cheese sandwiches yet, but, that sounds good. Butter the bread on both sides and put in couple pieces of Kraft cheese and flip and let it bake to the browness U want. don't have to dirty a skillet hahahahah

OK. My NuWave has come and I've unpacked everything, washed all the parts and have it up on the counter. Now, I need to do the video, which I'll do tomorrow morning before using.

I do have a question for those of you that have the one from QVC. Are you supposed to get two metal racks or just one. I got the one that you can used either way; however in my book, it looks like in one of the diagrams they have another one sitting on top. Was I supposed to get that one too?

Any suggestions for some easy things to make as I start to use my NuWave?

Thanks for all the advice!

Always " blew a fuse" in my apartment, had to reset circuit breaker every time I used it. Took up too much room. Too much trouble to clean. But chicken & veggies turned out great. I got rid of it, too bad.

Don't know why you would need 2, oh, I guess if you wanted to do lots of food at a time. Only 2 of us, so, I wouldn't need it, but, good idea if your doing a bunch of meat all at once I guess or hot dogs.

My husband liked the baked chicken that got done in little less then an hr. (thawed state) he won't eat boiled, I like boiled always on a diet. When I put a whole chicken in there and buttered it (LOL) after 30 min then cooked it another 30 came out good. Guess you could spray it too with some kind of Crisco spray would work too. Between the easy look at a glance form they send U, the DVD and the recipe cookbook and go online and join the FREE club you should be up and ready and try stuff that fits your lifestyle.
