What is your favorite ham?

I will usually go for a Cure 81 in the grocery store. I love Honey Baked Ham but there is not one close to here. What is your favorite? I like the spiral cut ones, butt portion, best.

Honey Baked Ham is all I ever serve but my daughter lives where there isn't a store and she gets spiral cut ham at Costco. She says it is good but not as good as honey baked.

I'm one of those rare people who don't care for honey baked hams, or for any spiral cut hams either. To me, they're dry. Different strokes.

I prefer to buy a whole bone-in ham & cook it covered tightly w/ water in the bottom of the pan for moisture, then uncover & glaze near the end to crisp up the outside.

I'm not a spiral ham person either. I want a thick slice. Any kind of bone in ham, honey baked or plain.

We've done very well with the Kansas City hams for quite a few years now. They are not pumped up with water, salt, or that fake smoke stuff that a lot of others use.

I also like that the glaze they provide is in a packet that you can reconstitute, if you want, or just make your own (which is what I do).

Aldi's, hands down. Many of my friends have complained about the quality and flavor of Honey Baked the last 2 years and have quite buying them.

Like the Cure 81 hams best. Not a fan of those spiral cut things. We'll be getting Cure 81 ham for Easter dinner.

Honey Baked, butt end w/bone in. It's the only one we use, and we're always pleased with what we get. We like the spiral cutting, and the remains are cut up into sections to be used when cooking green beans, vegetable soup, etc. Never waste even a little.

While I don't eat it myself, I served the Honey Baked at Christmas this year and everyone raved about it. I mean RAVED! No one in my family or extended family had every had HB ham before.

Our last spiral ham was by Smithfield, and it was awesome. I can't remember the last time ME, or my family ate that much ham; there was none to freeze or put away for other uses. I do buy the small Cure 81 hams from time to time when I know we are in the mood for ham for just one meal. I also like Cumberland Gap hams from Kroger, and am more partial to a bone-in ham. I am pretty particular when it comes to ham, as I am extremely salt sensitive, and notice this issue the most with ham. I can eat ham at the table with 20 other people, and I will be the only one who finds the ham "salty". I always choose a very small piece of ham to start with, to make sure I can tolerate it.

This is probably not anyone else's choice, but I love cheapo picnic hams. That's what we had when I was growing up.

esskay silver label ham......prefer the butt end. esskay is a locally owned company, so not sure how many states they sell in.

We're not big ham eaters here, but Christmas I wanted a spiral sliced ham, but not a huge one. The smallest one I could find was a brand called, Farmland, in Wal-mart. I have to say that was one of the best tasting hams I have ever had. The whole family kept saying how good it tasted. It had just the right amount of smoke flavor in it and the glaze packet that came with it wasn't one that was super sweet. Just a really great ham. I was a little leery since it wasn't a name brand, but glad I took the chance.

Another vote for Aldi's Appleton Farms ham. We usually buy the butt end smoked ham, but have also purchased the spiral cut and they're equally good. Probably have bought 5-6 in the past few years and all were winners.

Used to buy Cumberland Gap, but found the last few seemed overly salty.

Kentucky Legend... double smoked!!!!! I also buy it in the deli and have it sliced for sandwiches.
