I want to purchase an electric griddle. Tonight I was making pancakes in a frying pan on top of the stove with an omelet and it became cumbersome, over cooked and crowded.

I think it might be easier to have an electric griddle where I could control the heat accurately and have space to cook more than a few at a time.

Hopefully I can fry more than two burgers at a time etc.

Need info on what you have and like, and/or also what I should look for.

No airfryers wanted.

THANKS

A griddle is a single purpose item, it's a hot flat surface on which to make French toast, pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, grilled veggies, etc., but that's all. It has no sides to contain anything. I would opt for an electric skillet/frying pan that has sides and a lid. It can be used for your pancakes but for other jobs as well.

Electric frying pans come in assorted sizes and prices so you'll need to do your own research on what suits your own personal needs and budget.

I use my griddle pan for crisping tortillas and little else.

I don't like the fact that it has little in the way of sides.

I think sides on a pan help tremendously as far as keeping heat in the cooking area and helping things to cook evenly. That's why I prefer to cook pancakes in skillets.

Skillets also tend to be messier because grease spatters out of the low sides.

We used to have an electric skillet but I never liked it much, for various reasons including the fact that it's one more appliance to lug in and out of the pantry closet and to clean, and have always preferred cooking on the stove.

Like others I prefer to cook waffles in a waffle-maker over pancakes on the stove.

I bought one from HSN a few years ago and returned it. It was touted as having even heat throughout the surface, but it didn't. Took up a lot of room to store, too.

I've had an Elite Gourmet electric frying pan (#EG-6203) that I also use as a griddle for 6 years. It's non-stick, 16" x 13" x 3" and heats evenly without hotspots. It also has a lid and a cutout in one corner for pouring. You could easily make multiple pancakes or several types of breakfast foods at the same time. I had a friend (now deceased) who needed something to cook large breakfast quantities when her children and grandchildren visited. I recommended this pan and she loved it. I have a galley kitchen and this makes a great fifth burner. I like to use it when making entrees where I need "stirring space" for adding ingredients while the food simmers without spillovers. I also like it for making/flipping cheesesteaks. It stores easily in one of my base cabinets. It's currently selling on Amazon for $59. Hope this helps!

ETA: they make smaller ones, if you think this would be too big.

I make pancakes on the Presto Cool-Touch with Warmer griddle bought on Amazon a few years ago.

I paid around $55. I like that it has a feature that keeps things warm.
