Counter Stools

I just moved into a new apartment and have zero room for even the tiniest dinette set.

Since l often like to watch a show on my laptop while eating breakfast, I thought that getting a counter stool might work.

This would be for the regular counter next to the stove, etc.

Does anyone know if I could buy just one single stool?

I know it's unusual but I'm an introvert living solo, ha-ha.

@Janey3, if what I am visualizing from your description of where you would be eating I think you would be much more comfortable with the table. At least that way your legs and feet wouldn't be up against something solid.

measure the height of your counter as stools can come in 2 heights 24 or 36 inch

Home Goods usually have them with hydraulic to adjust the height and many of them llook similiar to what is sold at Frontgate

I have a couple of sturdy oak stools that I bought at Walmart some time ago, one at a time. Nothing fancy but they've held up well.

@Janey3 like a few others Im not sure a stool to go up against your counter is the best solution or the most comfortable since you cannot put your legs under the counter. My back hurts thinking about being in that position for just a few minutes.

I googled "folding dining table" and a few things came up. I particularly found this very attractive at Wayfarer and its less than $120.00. It has storage in it too.it may be able to used when just one side is open, but im not sure.

If your space is limited, a stool will always be out there and perhaps in the way. One more thing to walk around?

What do you use now for your laptop? A small table or desk? With chair? Could that area be used?

I posted earlier that I discovered folding counter stools.

They are perfect since there is no space to keep one out.

I can just fold it and put it aside when I' not using it.

Yep, I would be walking around it and walking into it LOL.

If I already had a small dedicated desk and chair for my laptop, I would surely have my breakfast there as well and not need a counter stool.

But my laptop is always on (you guessed it) my lap, on top of a laptop cooling pad.

And I am stretched out on my chaise or bed with good back support.

Go your local furniture store. They probably have a clearance department that'll have such things as a single stool.

I have a kitchen pass-through into the living room above my kitchen sink.

Yet it never occurred to me (duh) that I could also put a counter stool on the living room side and watch a TV show with my laptop and breakfast there.

The top is even the same easy-care material as the counter.

Something like this but very, very low-budget and just one stool.

this also depends on how long you will sit on it

the seat area should be considered -

perhaps the folding ones are smaller for the bum and not as comfy

I had one of those also. Very nice. I lost mine somehow in the move from my house to the storage lockers to the apartment. I would have sworn it was in the storage lockers, but it wasn't.

I bought two bar stools at TJ MAX last year when my daughter moved into an apartment at college. They were about $52-$54. Really nice.

Another place to check is the For Sale/Free area on your local Nextdoor. There always seem to be lots of people trying to get rid of bar and kitchen stools on Nextdoor, either giving them away for free or selling them cheaply.

You should also check your local Goodwill and St. Vinny's stores.
