If your mixer is working well, don't upgrade. I bought one 12 years ago and it died. I'm supposing they don't make them like they used to.

I'm not at all convinced that the TSV mixer is an upgrade over yours.

Why would you spend over $200.00 on a small kitchen appliance that is a want, and not a need??

Sounds like you are sipping the QVC Kool-Ade or watching too many presentations of the TSV.

I would spend $200 on a piece of jewelry and not bat an eye. Maybe because its tiny. If you have redone your kitchen and would like a new accent color, go for it.

I just purchased the same KA about 2 months ago. It's my very first KA mixer and I just love it. If I had one that worked, I'd see no need to get another. I got a good buy from QVC. I checked other stores and their prices were higher for less than what I got. It pays to shop around. I wouldn't buy anything except a KA. And for a food processor, I wouldn't buy anything but a Cuisineart. The one I had before last over 30 years! Can't beat that.

There is nothing, but nothing that compares to a KA stand mixer. The deal is, you have to really think, will I get use from it? I probably use mine, the large 6qt lift mixer, 10 times a year.

If you make breads, and bake a lot, I would go for it. I also love mine for grinding chicken, cheese, and milling flour. I have 2 attachments I bought at BBB. I also bought my KA in the cinnamon red at BBB. I got 20% off, plus I went through mr rebates. At the time my mixer was about 400. I got 80 dollars out the door with coupon. BBB has a great return policy as well. They are just as good as QVC, maybe better. You bring it in, and they take care of it. One thing people do forget is you need to register your applience with KA when you get it for the warranty. With BBB, you take it in the store, no boxing it up and mailing it!!

What I have learned, unless you make huge batches of cookies, or dough, the 5 qt can be big enough. I would not like to be without the lifter for the bowl though and the ability to use attachments..JMHO

The motor is not as powerful, and the bowl small. It is basically a hand mixer with a bowl attached, that comes in nice colors. Not worth 300 out the door.

I wouldmake do with my 20 year old mixer, and wait for a better model if I needed a new one. Again, JMHO

If you bake a lot, get the big bowl-lift 6 quart. For baking, breads and big batches to anything it is wonderful! The bowl lift is not hard to use, doesn't take up a lot more room ((if it fits under your cabinet) and it a real workhorse. I've had both, and the bigger IS better for a lot of things. But if you don't need it, get a pretty one!

My vote would be to stick with what you have. I am not a fan of KitchenAid, because I am not sold on the current models being a quality appliance. Older models of KitchenAid have metal parts inside the motor housing; current models have plastic, so when the appliance is used a lot, the plastic pieces get hot and wear out much faster. They absolutely do not make these appliances the way they used to, and if you have one that is working fine, I would hang onto it. I personally would buy a Sunbeam any day over a KitchenAid, and if I were going to buy a KitchenAid, I would not buy it from QVC.

I have an almost 50 year old mixer and an older 6 qt mixer that were both my Mom's. My only advice is to keep in mind the difference in the height of the two mixers and where you will be storing it. Depending on your counter to cupboard space the 6 qt might not fit under the cupboard. If you are a first time buyer and can justify the price get the largest one you can afford. If you cant afford one yet save your $$$ till you can afford a KA they are the best IMHO

I agree with the others - keep the one you have. A while back they stopped having their mixers made by Hobart and went with cheaper manufacturing/parts. The ones they make now are just not like the older ones, as RedTop explained very well.

I found it interesting that I didn't hear any mention yesterday of the TSV being made in the US. When I looked at the item on the website there also was no mention of this. It did say 'imported parts' though. I wonder if they are having the ones for QVC made in China now, like they do with the KA hand mixers.

I have a KitchenAid hand mixer. I was given a KitchenAid countertop mixer and all of its parts many years ago and never used it. I found it very inconvenient to work with, clean up, etc. It just wasn't worth the trouble. I don't even use the hand mixer anymore because of my RA issues, but still would were it not for that. I gave the countertop version to one of my daughters and she keeps it on her kitchen countertop for decoration, as she never cooks.

I have the Pro 600 Series bowl lift...in white... cause that's all there was to choose rom then- I am always so tempted by these pretty colors..but mine does so much more than the little 325 W one..At first I didn't like the bowl lift and wanted a tilt head, but now I can't remember why!!! LOL!
