It's a old Jello recipe from back in the 50s.

Dump a large or extra large egg white in mixer bowl with ½ cup GRANULATED sugar and a 3 oz package of any flavor REGULAR (not sugar free) Jello and ½ teaspoon vanilla.

Use the whip. Turn mixer on a low speed to slightly blend ingredients. Turn to '10' and SLOWLY add ½ cup BOILING water. Let 'er rip for 5 minutes. Water needs to be boiling to dissolve the sugar and Jello.

It does set up fast, so be sure to use immediately. It comes out similar to the consistancy of marshmallow creme. (Really, all you're doing is making marshmallows; marshmallows are made from egg whites, hot simple syrup and corn syrup).

Nice colors, and a light flavor of the jello flavor used. For more intense flavor, use a small amount of concentrated flavoring.

This will frost 2 dozen cupcakes.

<IMG She said you could also use lemon pudding to give it a hint of lemon flavor.

I never use Cool Whip for anything. You can whip a can of evaporated milk with jello (keep the milk in the fridge, it has to be really cold to work properly) to get a mousse dessert.

It layered itself when you made it- As I recall, there is a "homemade" version of this that has either dream whip or cool whip in it- does anyone have this recipe? I think you do it in a blender...

I sure do remember it.

Way back when, if we had a little vanilla ice cream in the freezer, my mom would make Jello and whip the semi-firm Jello with the softened ice cream and then re-chill to get it to firm up the rest of the way. It was a cheap dessert, but we liked it.

Does anyone know the recipe for that?

Laura said on air yesterday to add 1 Tablespoon of vanilla pudding to every pint of heavy cream when you make whipped cream and it will hold its shape without changing the flavor. There was a cake on the set with this on top and it looked great hours later even under the hot lights they have on set for the Q.
