CORELLE DISH WEAR

I know this discussion has been talked about for many years, so sorry folks here we go again as I did not pay attention.

I am tired of lifting heavy dishes in all kinds of fancy square, octogan and you name it whatever sizes available I have purchased over the years. I am not a Chef nor cook but now it's not only that it's this hefty ceramic weight on top of it in all sizes of dishes that feels like stone bricks - done.

So I picked one up at Publx called "Corelle" to give it a try, Wow I'm impressed. Today I purchased a salad plate and a little pasta bowl I would say last week. Weightless it was and wonderful. Easy clean up too and not sticky. This was the best of all.

Would you purchase a set of 4 for this Corelle dinner wear? Thanks. I found it great after purchasing 2 pieces of this after hearing it about it for so many years,

This one is called pure white "crystal"?? Not sure. It is white. Bet I can find a set on Amazon. Thank you for your help.

As long as it does not show scratches I'm all in with this brand the little I do cook. Thank you.

just keep in mind if you drop a piece it shatters in millions of small pieces. Last time I dropped one I found slivers on the floor for months. That's after washing the floor and vacuuming many times.

@Pink123 Nope! At this stage in my life I mostly eat off of fancy Dixie paper plates that can go into the microwave & counter top oven on "warm" settings.

My Pfaltzgraff dinnerware is for company & paramour.

We have used Corelle for many years I am very happy with the set we have. We have had it for close to 15 years

I use Corelle for myself and for my two cats. I just ordered four " soup"bowls for them over the last week. As someone noted, they do smash into a gazillion pieces when I drop them, but they are great for me, any lunch visitors, and my cats.

@Pink123 . I have been using Cornell's since I got married. 1975.

I am still using my second set. They are lightweight and I like the pattern I have. But like one person said, when it drops, it will shatter into a million pieces. What can I tell you? I do not want to use heavy dishes at this point in my life. So go for it. You will enjoy them.

I've used Corelle since I got married, love it. Dropped several over the years with no problem until I dropped a dinner plate on it's edge that caused it to shatter. My current set, Country Morning is 20 yrs old & still looks great...if I had to replace it I'd buy Corelle again.

I inherited both my mother's AND grandmother's CorningWare©. Some smashed when it hit the floor during the 6.7 '94 quake. Otherwise, the stuff is indestructible.

thats funny @Mz iMac I hear you loud and clear, ha. A girl after my own heart.

But, the little I do prepare a meal is easy and this Corelle does make it work.

I never enjoyed cooking, guess Mom had no interest and was more into beauty and never drew me into the kitchen to bake cookies. But I was fine with that and not a problem.

I still make dinner once a week....and the perfectionist I am it is hard indeed to this day. A big task if you will. I have other interests I guess. Art comes in so many forms. We all have our abilties in certain forms.

Everyone has their experitse, food is not one of them and never will be for me. Now go out and get your self a Corelle pasta bowl. (they are good)

@Pink123 - Corelle has been around since the 1970s and is a very widely used brand. We had it for our dinnerware when I was growing up and I still use it now, more than any of the other brands in my collection. The "whiteware" (it has a few different names but primarily is referred to as Winter Frost) is great, especially if you want something to potentially combine with patterned pieces. You can buy Corelle at a lot of different places, from Amazon to Walmart and Target to many grocery stores, such as Kroger. (I actually bought a big Corelle Winter Frost bowl at my local Kroger affiliate just before Christmas and have been using it a lot.)

The pattern I've had for the past 13 years is called Breathtaking Blue Beads; I like the fact that it is mostly white but has a little personality:

@Pink123 I bought my set from Target about a year ago. They have many pattern choices. A 4 piece place setting of 16 pieces includes little fruit bowls and is only $48.99. I especially like Target because when I order things online they can almost always be delivered to my nearby Target so I can pick them up easily.

Hi @loriqvc that is what it is some kind of "frost name". And I do remember as a child visiting some houses at dinner there were blue edges.

However it was always simple.

I did not know to not drop them, from the poster who showed the picture. So funny. But when you know better one does better.

Again I love this light weight of it all business.

And so now that I have one pasta bowl, and a salad bowl which I make a mistake, I just might buy a 4 pack for "frosty". Unless a little blue on the edges comes back. Thank you all.

I just love the weight and simplicity of it all. Not to forget the cleaning. No more dragging heavy dishes around. Ah.........

Dear Pink, you will not go wrong with Corelle dishes!!! I have always used them since they came out in I believe the early 80s. I never, ever had a problem with scratches or breakage whatsoever!! They are made in the good ole USA and are beautiful!!! Worth the price no matter where you purchase them!!! Sincerely.

I love my Corelle. Hubby and I've been using it for 20 yrs- So lightweight and durable. Don't hesitate!

I'm a Dixie plate girl myself. We have a set of Corelle thats probably 20 years old and can't remember the last time I used them. It's not that I don't like them but paper is just more convenient for us.

Thank you all for helping me with this Corelle. I've always been a curious and fascinated by it as well. (I really was almost obsessed about it or rather curious) Now that I have purchased a baby pasta bowl and it seems like a salad bowl (low slung) I will purchase a set for 4 (four). YAY. (and I will not drop fingers crossed.

I have been using Corelle as my every day dishes for at least 45 years. I think I'm on my third set. I can only remember breaking 3 pieces in all that time. The plates do break into a million pieces. It's almost like they explode. However, the bowl I broke didn't shatter like the plates did. I've dropped many pieces over the years. They don't always break. I think they have to hit the floor just right to shatter!
