Hungry Package thief!!

I have a funny story to share!

I ordered some Mrs. Prindable apples, 6 count. Was looking forward to receiving them.

UPS delivered the box, left it on my front step. The package was on my front step for over an 1 hour, that's it.

Well...I took the box inside my garage, cut the top open, and I was like, what the heck??

I THEN noticed a chewed through hole on the side of the box, did not see that when I picked it up off the step.

One of the apples was missing, wrapper and all. 2 of the apples, the wrappings were gone, and both apples were eaten halfway through! A nice squirrel hair was sticking out of one of the half eaten apples.

Happy that something clearly got to enjoy the apples, wasn't me!!

So clearly the squirrels in my area are package thiefs that I will have to watch more closely!!

@JKLSCH. Call CS, they'll give you a refund or reorder if available. Haven't heard the squirrel story before.

This is funny. Animals must be able to smell food left outside right through the box.

Many years ago, my sister sent us Wolferman's muffins for Christmas. For some strange reason UPS delivered them to my back deck instead of to the front door or even to my back door.

We do not use the deck in the winter and never go out there until the weather warms up.

We found the box weeks later under my built in benches. Some animal ate a hole in the box and helped themselves to some English muffins.

My dogs kept barking to go out on the deck and finally, I opened the patio door and left them out. They immediately found the chewed up box and missing muffins.

That is the only package that was ever delivered to my deck. I can't for the life of me figure out why. Dumb move by UPS.

This reminds me that years ago we lived on a farm and our gate was not in sight of the house. We had a raised platform inside the fence for packages.

When I went to get my mail and packages, my Mrs. Prindables box had been ripped open, and I saw a trail of packaging and apple remains leading into the woods. My guess was a raccoon.

We ended up with 2 or 3 out of 12 apples. Didn't order them again unitl we moved back to where packagges were left at our front door.

A nice holiday treat for our wildlife friends!

I used to feed a mother possum at night-blueberries, apples and other treats. But there was also a family of racoons, and deer.

Well, my daughter would also leave out water bottles and snack packages for delivery men on the front porch in a closed container.

There were many days we would find several opened packages with crumbs of cheez-its and things on the lawn.

She told me, "Mom! Tell your friends to at least clean up after themselves!" lol

That happened to me many years ago. I bought a box of candy from a young boy for a fund raiser to go towards a school trip. Anyhow, he left it on my porch when I was at work. When I got home, there it was with a hole neatly chewed thru the lid with one candy missing.

I had to start putting about a 10# brick on my trash can. I had a lighter stone, they would get it off and tear up the trash. This new size has been keeping them out for now. I'm guessing raccoons.

We have a local park and also some parking areas along the river all lined with trash cans every couple of hundred yards, and I've watched as both squirrels and birds (mostly crows and starlings) go into the trash cans and haul out trash looking for food. One day a woman walking along the river path commented out loud at how some people were inconsiderate in where they put their trash, "The trash can is right there. Why didn't they put it in the trash can?" I laughed and pointed to the culprit, a squirrel who'd just finished emptying the trash can. "There's the culprit." She seemed confused and I then told her how I'd been watching the squirrel emptying the trash can. Everytime someone put something into the trash can, the squirrel would go over and remove it.

I helped her put everything back in the can and then we sat back and watched as the squirrel returned to the scene of the crime and emptied it all again.

@Carmie My guess is this one-time delivery was decided by the driver. If it had been a UPS decision, I would expect that to occur with many deliveries.

Where I live I can see delivery trucks from all the services. All the drivers run once they leave their trucks, so it never looks as if any of them would be working with orders to add even an extra few seconds to any delivery, Feels strange your fellow did.

Just saw a video the other day where a bear stole the sack of food off the front porch that GrubHub delivered?
