Microwave Grill Pan

I so want to order this item, K310521, but during the presentation it could only be used in microwaves no bigger than 1000 watts. My MW is 1100 watts. Do you think the 100 extra watts makes that much of a difference. I've seen others on AMZ that could be used up to 1100 watts. Believe it or not QVC has the best price with the free shipping and the 20% off promo. Please, someone help.

10yrs ago or so they sold something similar on Q, and I bought it. Just a few months later a big recall email was sent because the coating was breaking down and the messaging said to just throw it out and they would refund. My point is, just be careful when considering using a product not approved to be used in a higher wattage microwave, it may have something to do with the materials breaking down or the like.

Thank you all, @rms1954 @ajsidney12 @Mz iMac . Guess I was hoping. I will stop whining and won't buy it.

Funny thing is in checking AMZ who has very, very simiar grill pans, the max wattage is 1100W. OK, one more whine and I'll stop.

@coffee drinker - Like one of the other posters, I bought a microwave grill pan set from QVC years ago. I only ended up using it a few times because it was difficult to get the cooking "just right," resulting in a lot of hassle and some unpleasantly overdone food. The results were rarely, if ever, as good as what was shown in the presentations. After it sat around my house for a year or so without being used, I chucked it.

Overall, I think the microwave is a versatile tool that is typically not used as much or as well as it could be, but I've never found any kind of "grills" or other gadgets that allow it to mimic the proper grilling/cooking offered by more direct heat. Using a stove, oven, grill, or even an air fryer yields much better results.

@coffee drinker. QVC has had these pans before. I just pitched one out recently. I never used it and much prefer my air fryer that does the same thing, only better.

No, I don't think 100W would make a difference. I think my micro is 1100W.

I don't think the additional wattage would be a problem though you might need to cook for a little less time.

Unfortunately a great many of these gadgets and contraptions end up similar to your situation. One uses it a few times and then puts it away to be forgotten once the newness wears out. The microwave grill, the microwave smores maker, etc..., all seem destined for that spot in the closet where unused and forgotten devices go for eternity.

@ULY - Actually, we use our microwave s'mores makers quite frequently—they take so little time and effort (and yield such great results) that kids of all ages continue to enjoy them. And I have other dishes and specialty items I use in the microwave at least a couple of times per week. I really do think the microwave is underutilized by many people, but in our house, we put it through its paces and reap the rewards.

K95959 ia a Prepology microwave silicone steamer I recently bought and it is the bomb! Steams my potstickers and salmon perfectly. I bought that grill pan too and hope it works out for me as well as the steamer did.
