We like Italian wedding soup, vegetable beef soup, also chili.

DH loves my chili with extra veggies. Today, I made a Broccoli Cauliflower Soup with cheddar cheese and bacon. Been thinking about it since the cooler weather set in. Got the veggies at a local farm stand.

Beef mushroom barley, lentil, chicken soup with matzo balls and egg noodles, minestrone and split pea. I grew up eating soup a lot. My mother always made a huge pot of soup on Friday for Sabbath dinner and for leftovers. Soup was a staple in my house growing up.

Looking forward to seeing what others post. Always looking for new soup ideas.

Hamburger soup:
Browned 20% fat burger...1/2-1 lb.
1 32 oz. carton beef broth
1 can diced Italian seasoned tomatoes, crushed or pureed in blender
1 cup each Chopped potato, carrots, onion

1 cup frozen lima beans
Small can corn
1-2 T Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. minced garlic...
Bring to boil, simmer 30-45 minutes.
Instead of potato I sonetimes add 1-2 cups (as desired) cooked pasta (mini shells, bow tie, etc)
Add 1/2-1 cup each frozen green beans and peas, heat through.
Serves 4-6 bowls

NOTE: I cook the pasta first otherwise it soaks up a lot of the broth!

Because I don't make soup, I will have to give my favorites that are store bought.

Mushroom soup, lobster bisque, broccoli cheese and corn and crab chowder are all delish.

@Q-Checker Can you provide a recipe for your sauerkraut soup? We make our own sauerkraut each year and would love more recipes to use it up.

@ retiredatlast, we always had home made soup on Mondays growing up. My mother made delicious soups. I forgot about lentil soup and beef barley soup until you mentioned that. My mother would also make those.

Food Wishes site has some wonderful soup recipes. Have made the chicken pastina & the Ribollita (Tuscan Bread Soup). Both are excellent & have become part of our regular menu plan. Also, like to do a lentil soup with the refrigerated lentils from Trader Joe's.

@PA Mom-mom The two sauerkraut soup recipes are actually different --- and there is some history to that. I sent the stove top recipe, which I found online, to a slow cooker cookbook author when she was on the prowl for new recipes to inspire her. She changed the recipe a lot in her published version and at first glance, I was underwhelmed. Bur, I eventually tried the recipe and preferred it. I will be glad to send both to you, but it will likely be a few days or so before I can do it.

A Cuban born neighbor loves the soup and welcomes it as a gift in response to the many favors he does for me. My Russian grandfather would love that!

@Q-Checker Thanks for your due diligence! I would be more likely to cook the stove top recipe, so don't bother with the slow cooker recipe. I could look up it up on the internet, but I'm always interested in recipes used and approved by people who love them. If it's too much trouble, don't worry about it. Thanks!
