Elizabeth's on 57th, you need to make reservations NOW. It is white tablecloth, fine dining, truly Southern food all in an Historic home. PINK is also very popular and they don't take reservations. Lady and Sons is in a two story corner store, cafeteria style Southern food, the best thing there is the corn cakes. Call for reservations now, the tour bus folks start lining up for dinner at 4:30 pm. There are a number of other places, search on line for good places to eat in Historic District and a lot will come up. Unless you have the time and really want to go to Paula Deen's place, skip it. We thought it was a huge disappointment. Perhaps because we are Southerners but at bes the food was average. Have a great time. Definitely go to the river walk to stroll and plenty of great places to eat.

Find Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House, get there about 10:00 -10:30 am to get the first seating and table. They only serve lunch. I've eaten there twice and got the same table. The food is great. Some guy from Texas was sitting at our table. He picked up a piece of chicken with his fingers, but wanted another piece instead. I told him that piece is yours now!!! The nerve of that person. Use a fork!!!They also have a cookbook for sale. When we left, the people were lined up down the street.

Find Back in the Day Bakery, they have wonderful food. I got to meet Cheryl and her husband. I got a cookbook there at the bakery.

We also ate at Lady and Sons, some yahoo at the buffet line couldn't wait for the server to put the chicken in the buffet pan, and got a piece from the bowl with his fingers. She told him not to do that and she took the whole bowl of chicken and threw it away, just because he couldn't wait for her to put it out.

So many places to eat.

Went to Uncle Bubba's and the 2 item seafood plate was good.

Churchill's Pub. It's by the waterfront across from the Hyatt...real English cuisine..bangers and mash, the whole thing. They have a wine cellar and an extensive beer menu, and it's haunted.

Personally I would avoid the Lady and Son's and the lines. We ate there two years ago, and the food was mediocre at best.

The Pirate's House, is nice, good food, but a little touristy. If you take a ghost tour at night, there is a package that includes dinner there. There are bus tours, walking tours, and coach tours.

The Girl Scout National HQ is also there, and don't forget the Mercer House.

We ate at Lady and Son's about two years ago. OMG, it was the most delicious comfort food buffet we had ever eaten!! Its not for those looking for health food, but their fried chicken and their mashed potatos and gravy were beyond wonderful.

Mrs. Wilkes is great; my son STILL talks about that place. They only serve lunch Mon - Fri. AND they only take cash. I would go there again if I went back.

A.J.'s on Tybee Island was good. Almost all seafood but I did have their chicken wings & they were the best I've ever had & I've had quite a few.

Have fun! We like Savannah.

Great place to eat right on Bay Street, which is the main road in the historic district. We always try and eat there at least once per visit and if you like bread pudding you will love theirs. My husband always gets their cobbler and I must say it looks good, but I cannot pass up the bread pudding.

I've never eaten at Lady and Son's but love Uncle Bubbas which is between Savannah and Tybee Island, just a short drive. We have eaten there a lot and always got great food.

Now a place the locals told us about was Love's Seafood. You will have to get directions and put it into your GPS if you have one. Not really that far, but you will feel like you are in the boonies. A really neat place right on the river with excellent fish and seafood. A little pricey but not too bad. It was so worth finding and will go back on our next trip to Savannah.

Don't forget to go to Savannah Candy Kitchen on the Riverwalk. They give out free samples all day long and the pralines are delish.

We plan to retire in Savannah in just a few years. We've gone there so much, have made good friends there and we just love the laid back lifestyle. Can't wait to get down there again.

Have a wonderful trip and be prepared for some great southern hospitality.

Vicki

Meant to add if you like fried green tomatoes, try the Cotton Exchange on Riverstreet. The best I've ever had.

We really enjoyed Lady and Sons, we had the buffet. Line up at 330 to get a reservation, then come back, we got 7 PM which is what we really wanted. I noticed if you come there with no reservation about 830 or so, you can get right in.

Highly recommend taking the Trolley tour of the city.
