      <title>Did I make a $91 mis-steak?</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;My local store had whole beef filets on sale for $15.98/lb. I used AI for price comparisons in my area and it did show that it was a savings of about $5 per pound.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I went to the store and chose a giant hunk of beef.&amp;nbsp; The butcher trimmed it and cut it and ground the ends.&amp;nbsp; Pictured is what I walked away with, though half of the filets are not viewable in the photo because they are underneath the ground meat.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I'm planning to seal and freeze the filets.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;Any suggestions for what to do with all the expensive ground beef?&amp;nbsp; Is it too lean to use for burgers?&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I'm starting to wonder if I've made an expensive mistake.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;&lt;IMG src="https://community.qvc.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/343806i11EB843A298B0CB4/image-size/original?v=v2&amp;amp;px=-1" border="0" alt="Screen Shot 2025-08-18 at 2.34.32 PM.png" title="Screen Shot 2025-08-18 at 2.34.32 PM.png" /&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;You could make meatloaf, meatballs and spaghetti sauce with the ground beef. I was always told the more marble in the beef, the more tender. I hope those steaks are tender.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>I think you got a good deal. I would split the ground meat for, chili, meatloaf, meatballs, goulash, Spanish rice, or hamburgs.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;YES, indeed you got a NICE good looking deal.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My husband wanted fillets&amp;nbsp;for his birthday. We went to Costco. My husband picked out a package of 6 fillets. They did not look as nice as yours. We ate 3. They were tough, so the other 3 are sitting in the freezer. And the package was over $90. So you got more nice looking fillets&amp;nbsp;and ground beef for the same price we paid for 6 fillets. I think I will cut the rest of the fillets&amp;nbsp;up and put them a stew.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think you did VERY well. Enjoy!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>I always use 93% lean hamburger meat, for burgers and everything else. If lean ground beef doesn't suit you, buy a pound of cheap hamburger meat and mix with your lean. 5hats what I use to do with the ground venison I had to cook.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I always use 93% lean ground beef. In addition to burgers, I use it for meatloaf, chili, and any other recipe that calls for ground beef. An added bonus is that you don't have to drain the fat in these dishes because it's practically non-existent. Enjoy!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="3"&gt;We just went to Omaha Steaks today and bought one of their value specials with steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork chops, and chicken breasts all at one price.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="3"&gt;I like their products because they are vacuum sealed, and technically can last months to years in the freezer.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="3"&gt;If you can seal everything well to store in the freezer long-term, you will have many menu options!&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="3"&gt;P.S. Beef prices are increasing!&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;Thanks so much for all the feedback.&amp;nbsp; I was concerned when I saw all that ground beef because I thought it would be too lean for burgers.&amp;nbsp; All the suggestions here have eased my mind.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I've been very cognizant of grocery prices since retiring recently.&amp;nbsp; I'm careful about budgeting and we almost never go out to eat, so this was a significant purchase. It's been about 24 hours since I handed the cashier my debit card and I think my heart rate is finally back to normal, lol.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I did vacuum seal the filets and divided the ground meat into two one pound packages.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
