Are glass cutting boards sturdy. I would think they would break easy. I tend to drop stuff easy.

I use the glass inserts that used to come with Temp-tations bakers many years ago. You would get the baker, a wire rack and a glass insert that could be used as a trivet or cutting board. I used to use plastic and wood, but when handling raw meat, the juices would get in the grooves and I was afraid of cross-contamination. I feel glass is more sanitary.

I have a wooden one I bought at Ikea a few years ago...larger, with well going around it, sits on my counter, for basic work.

I have a small plastic one I've had for years, also happens to be from Ikea (where I hardly ever shop, but both boards from there)...I am only recently becoming aware of "microplastics" being and issue so I wonder...I use that small one often for small chopping, easy clean up without dirtying the wood one.

Meats I cut on some glass & metal boards I keep stored.

I would use those glass ones (bought on QVC years ago) ilo plastic, but I don't like the sound or thought of my knives chopping on those, and figure they'll dull them, so I don't use them other than meats....clean, don't hold bacteria, can go in dishwasher. (I put that small plastic one in dishwasher too.)

Bf recently told me he read an article, about how much plastic we've ingested just from drinking water, and other drinks from plastic bottles. So...before I worry about my cutting board shedding microplastics, I figure I'm already overloaded from the bottles! Sigh. Plastic everywhere. I try to do my best. AND when it isn't plastics, it's PFOA's etc.

"They're out to get us", everything is done on the "cheap" or marketed for safety at a very high price tag. Something's gonna get us eventually!!...and way sooner than our grandparents...as it seems by the numbers these days... but I digress.

Wood, plastic, glass...I use the plastic one the most.

I have several in both wood and plastic in several sizes. I use the thin flexible ones far more than the others. Convenient for when cutting an onion, etc. you can take it over to the skillet/pot on the stove and add the contents of what has been chopped.
