High five for discontinuing coffee and Earl Gray!

Herbal teas don't have caffeine and there are many flavors. As far as what will not bother your IBS, everyone is different so you'll have to see what works for you.

@katie1859 For many years, I have been buying Celestial Seasonings teas. They are all herbal teas in many different flavor combinations. No artificial flavors.

Since they don't contain black tea, there is no caffeine.

I can't drink black tea because it is high in oxalates and I am prone to kidney stones.

Mandarin Orange Spice is one of my favorites. Their

Sleepytime Mint, Black Cherry Berry and Tangerine Orange

are very good. They also have wellness teas.

It is a matter of your personal taste. You can view their online website to see the many varieties. You can look at the ingredients to determine if they might contain something that could upset your stomach. First, I would find out which herbs may irritate IBS, to make sure none of those are in the herb tea blends.

I think that you can even get packages of assorted flavors so you don't need to purchase a whole box to find something that you like.

I have to ask about what the problem was concerning detoxing from decaf. Did you specifically mean Earl Grey decaf? Or decaf coffee? What happened?

I just ordered decaf Earl Grey in loose tea and tea bags

along with other gift items from Harney & Sons for my son's birthday.

He drinks coffee in the morning and sometimes he will

drink Earl Grey tea.

When he visited me on Mother's Day, he was telling me about the tea and mentioned that he wanted to get some decaf Harney & Sons Earl Grey. I was thinking that he probably wanted decaf because he may drink the tea after work and he needs to get up at about five in the morning for his long commute to work and doesn't want caffeine to interfere with his sleep. I don't think that it is something he drinks every day,

maybe just occasionally or weekends.

So, I ordered the tea for his birthday in June. He has had IBS problems but seems to be okay now.

Was your problem from drinking decaf tea or maybe the bergomot in Earl Grey? Did you drink it every day?

I would hate to give him something that would cause him problems. Thanks for any suggestions.

P.S. I have had colonoscopy, Blood and poop testing, breath testing, dozens of supplements, FODMAP, elimination of caffeine & lactose and taken Xifaxan (the gut antibiotic) . Add biofeedback and meditation and hours of research in legitimate health sites.

All I can share is what happened to me. One day I decided it will be up to me to figure this out. I eliminated ProBiotics! On day 3 of this trial, I had normal poop. That was 3 months ago and I would describe my recovery as 95%. I notice some foods(usually fatty) are disruptive.

Who knows if this is short term or permanent.

To answer the question regarding DECAFF and Earl Grey

I feel so stupid not knowing how decaff is not all caffeine free

The process doesn't eliminate all caffeine and caffeine is an a no j

by IBS standards. I wasn't slammed overnight by IBS as it crept in

and grew so of course it required change.

Earl Grey was a satisfying replacement to coffee but by orders to remove

caffeine I went decaff but I started to notice my dependence on it and the

GI sign of upset. So out it went.

Summer is here therefore not much is consumed unless on the rocks of cubes

The symptoms of Earl Grey were twofold

Probanly the bergomot causing the GI knot ( which has since left

but when I stopped the Earl Grey immediately intense headaches came ( which have since stopped

To be a careful examiner of what one digests is an understatement lol

Thank you for your recommendations

My IBS is under control but I still love my mug of tea

Headed to do my homework and order some )
