I thought I wanted stainless appliances since that was so popular. I will never have them again. They pick up every fingerprint and always look smuggy even when clean. There are also a couple of small dents. I never had that problem when they were white enamel!. I haven't been very happy with them. The icemaker broke 3 times while it was still under warranty. The last time it was repaired, the technician said that it would cost $500 to replace the mother board if it broke again. I would just like to have a plain refrigerator...in white. The only good thing I can say about it is I like the French doors and bottom freezer. We decided not to get the icemaker repaired. Also, the freezer works differently since it is at the bottom. The food doesn't get freezer burn.

Groovy wallpaper and avocado appliances. Notice the innovative intercom on the wall. My aunt's family had one of those and thought they were lah-de-dah.

@Tuppermore We recently switched from stainless to all white appliances for reasons you described. Our freezer is also on the bottom. So much easier and more efficient. We don't use the icemaker leaving room in a more than adequate freezer section.

I remember my Mom's aunt, having aqua and I just thought that was something real special in my childhood. In my first house, I had the greens and golds between the laundry room and kitchen, I bought them all, at Sears appliance warehouse. My Mom had a beautiful white Chambers stove, old fashion looking with the white refrig. She had my sister and I as her dishwasher, until they redid the kitchen! I now have stainless steel and some black. I can't keep the stainless clean, even with special cleaner, kids are all gone, so will not be replacing with stainless, black will work. When we were recently replacing a refrig, I saw a red, retro online. Lots of red in adjoining family room, however, the price was prohibitive!

I love vintage, my recent trip to WDW in Florida, I rode my favorite ride, The Carousel of Progress. I remember it from the 1964 NY World's Fair. The rest of the party stood in lines for other rides.

Our wallpaper had pale green background (soft avocado color) with white flowers and some touches of pale pink or peach here and there.

Our cabinets were painted either the soft avocado or soft harvest gold, depending on what year. Mom painted them about every 2 years. We always had painted cabinets. They weren't expensive ones.
