Just Bagels

I ordered Just Bagels recently. They were supposed to be delivered, frozen, within 2 days of shipment. 4 days after they shipped I recieved them, thawed-out and smushy. I don't blame QVC at all, except for making a claim on delivery without checking to see if UPS was actually able to fulfil it. I contacted Customer Service and received a refund. Maybe the birds will like smushy bagels.

Sorry you had a problem. As a general piece of information, I do not think that the bagels are supposed to arrive frozen. Mine never have. I do freeze them when they arrive.

Mine weren't frozen upon arrival either but I did freeze them once I got thm and they have been fine.

Bagels are a shelf stable product and are not shipped frozen.

Considering the weather that has been adversely affecting vast, vast areas of this country it is to me understandably that deliveries are unpredictable.

I wouldn't place blame anywhere. The beauty of QVC food delivery is that if unsatisfied they offer option to refund or replace.

I have been ordering them since they came on qvc and they are the best bagels I have ever eaten.. They are NOT shipped frozen. If you watch a presentation they make that very clear. They are shipped the day after baking and you freeze them when you get them. If yours were delivered mushy perhaps something happened in shipping with the weather but they were not thawed because they are not frozen until you freeze them.Go online and watch a presentation; it is all clearly explained.

As others have said, these bagels are shipped ambient and are supposed to be frozen upon arrival. It could be that the bagels froze while in shipment because of the weather and by the time they were received by you they thawed and (of course) were mushy.

They aren't shipped frozen as you should have realized by the type of packing materials, no cold pack. They are thankfully softer than many hard, tough bagels. I wouldn't order them if they were.

@Magicrat I'm on my 3rd Auto Delivery for the plain bagels. They are fabulous. You are supposed to freeze them when they arrive and then use them from there. You can defrost in a microwave and then toast, you can put them in an oven for about 15 mins, the instructions are in the package.

My girlfriend was visiting from Knoxville and loved them so much, she had one every morning she was with me, for breakfast and then ordered them when she got home.

I live in the Chicago area and can't find bagels here close to what I grew up with so I have AD.

I hope you didn't throw them out. Put them in the freezer and try one of the methods on the card. The bagels look like they shipped and then got delayed, but they actually are just printing the label to be ready for pick up. There typically is no delay.

Others are correct.

They are NEVER frozen.

You can freeze them when rec'd.

I'm sure if you go back and watch any video of them, they say it many times.

They are never delivered frozen, they arrive room temperature with the instructions to put in freezer what you don't want to eat immediately.

They do well in the freezer as most bread products.

When mine arrive I put one bag in the refrigerator and the remaining bags in the freezer. I eat one a day and the refrigerated ones stay for a full week without needing freezing.

When ready for a new bag I put a frozen one in the refrigerator to thaw overnight then just continue as usual--slicing and toasting in the toaster. No need to oven bake or microwave. They come out crisp on the outside and tender on the inside.

@Magicrat - I've been getting Just Bagels on auto-delivery for several years now.

They are shipped fresh, never frozen. (Not sure where you got that idea.)

I've had reason to contact them once, when the bagels I received had taken over five days to get to me; sat in the UPS warehouse over a long weekend and were definitely stale. (I got a refund.)

However, what I did find out from contacting both Just Bagels and QVC, is that even though the information online says "Two Day Shipping", the shipping is determined by QVC, not Just Bagels.

Just Bagels receives the orders from QVC, along with the shipping labels. It is QVC who decides that, given the customer's location, some can be sent standard ground delivery (as in my case).

This if fine, if they ship Monday to Wednesday as stated, but I live in an area that doesn't have Saturday deliveries. At least a couple of times, they've shipped my orders on a Thursday and there's no chance they'll get to me before the weekend.

I have no idea why your bagels were "mushy". I've never received them like that, but I can assure you they weren't shipped from the Just Bagels facility in that condition.

Also, if you contact Just Bagels directly, they would likely offer to send you a new shipment free-of-charge. But four days isn't unusual; just because the label is created (and it says "shipped"), it doesn't mean the bagels have actually left the facility.

Just Bagels is happy to provide you with more information. I personally like their bagels and always have them on order. Very rare to have a problem with the delivery or quality.

I am originally from The Bronx in NYC where these bagels are made and sorry to say, but these bagels do not taste and have the texture of authentic New York bagels. To chewy and gummy. I've discovered that the bagels in the Whole Foods bakery department are very good. 6 in a sleeve for 5.99. Pretty good.

How strange - I've never found mine either "too chewy or gummy". Definitely not gummy!

However, not everyone lives in NYC, to have access to local bagel shops. And a lot of people don't have access to Whole Foods (or Trader Joe's) either.

So for those who don't, you either like these or find something else you can get elsewhere. Simple as that. Not everyone has the same experience or choice.

We are lucky, our local big grocery store makes bagels that are delicious, sold individually or in six packs. I also like Panera's bagels, also very good. I have not tried just bagels. I'm not a fan of the "bread aisle" bagels.
