While watching late today during the Rastelli's rib steak demonstration with Alberti, noted the man cutting the cooked steaks , decided to cut a raw one in half since Alberti says that 1/2 of a steak is enough for him & Rachel B. Problem was that the Rastelli's Rep took the same knife and fork that he cut the raw one with to cut pieces of the cooked steak. Then Alberti ate a piece of the steak cut with the contaminated utensils.

He ought to be glade that Chef Gordon Ramsay who yells was not there to tell him people can get e coli poisonings that way.

Yes, some eat steak Tar Tar , but one does so at their own risk like very rare steak or burgers

"Bacterial Contamination: Raw beef can harbor harmful bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella, which can lead to foodborne illnesses. Cooking meat thoroughly is the best way to kill these pathogens. Parasites: Consuming raw or undercooked beef can expose individuals to parasites like tapeworms.

Steak Tartare was famously featured in "Wall Street" with Bud and Gordon dining at The 21 Club.

"Try the steak tartare. It's off the menu. Louis will fix it for you."

It was a big thing in the 1980s.

I would eat beef that was cut with a knife used on raw beef if it was a good product and properly stored and handled, But for me steak tartare is a no. It is prepared with raw eggs...no way.

NOOO--you have to use a clean knife/fork--in my world!! I never ever re -use utencils that I have used for raw meats on cooked meats---I always use clean ones--same with plates that raw meat sit on --always use clean ones to use after the meats are cooked--always!!! and even more picky about things used for poultry-----believe me--just 1 case of food poisoning cured me of that horrible habit!!!!

The biggest problem is with raw ground meat which a much higher probability of being comtaminated than a cut like a steak.

Since steak can be served rare in the middle, I don't see the real problem here.
