I find myself with stale bread more often than I like (I HATE wastefulness!) so these are great tips to have. Thanks so much for posting this @northiie57.

@northiie57 I always throw out cheerios when the snow-covered ground is frozen and all the creatures seem to scoop it up. Actually, a few years ago when we had the most snow inthe country, the turkeys would line up to the back gate every morning and evening. When I'd run outof cheerios, I give tem grapenuts or watever cereal on hand.

I various cereals not good for the birds and other wildlife?

@northiie57 As an urban girl I can assure you that it is fine for pigeons since they seem to exist solely on junk food anyway.

Well I feel dumb! Just yesterday I sliced up a week old loaf of beautiful bread I bought at costco and put it out for the deer. Now I want it back to make bread pudding!

I must have about 4 or 5 ends of assorted kinds bread in my freezer right now--I will toast them and make bread crumbs or will toast them and use them in stuffing. Toasted crumbs in olive oil with seasonings is so good for the top of casseroles too. Using the crumbs to thicken up soups and such, is a good idea too.

We throw it out in the backyard. The birds, squirrels & rabbits eat it.

I keep bresd in the freezer and take out what I need for the next day. Keep it in a LocknLock. The same with bagels and rolls. There's french toast too.

shredded wheat is ok to....no processed sugary kind

Professional bakeries will often take unsold bread and mix it into the dough for the next day's bread. The ultimate in recycling.
