Just an fyi. I bought a Ginsu knife block as a Christmas gift last year mainly because of their long reputation for being very sharp. The person had done their kitchen in a bit of purple, so I bought the purple handled knife block for her. They are the most dull knives ever! The included scissors will barely cut a piece of paper! Anyone have any suggestions for a good knife block with very sharp knives?

My favorite knife holder is just that, a knife holder, doesn't sharpen just stores the knives in sight. It is a Kuhn Rikon that I bought at least 5 years ago. K88427-I love it, and due in part to the fact that I have bought each knife individually. It is on clearance at this point, for $10!

@Hopein24 I really like the simple knife sharpeners QVC sells. I think Prepology is one brand, but the ones I'm thinking of cost around $20-$25. They work so well that I take them to our rentals on vacation. They put a very sharp edge on a knife with only 3 or 4 passes.

@We rescue cats Thanks for the tip! I just bought 2 of them to replace the wooden blocks that take up valuable counter space in my galley kitchen.

I bought the Zwilling brand just based on their reputation and lifetime warranty.
