Easy T-day tip

I saw a short video on You Tube where they suggest to buy disposable foil muffin tins.

After dinner you set these out near the food and welcome guests to fill up the cups with the food they want ro take home and have foil on hand to over them up. It looked so efficient!

Please share any tips for the day you have...

Have you seen muffin tins today? I bake muffins weekly with muffin tins. They are very small. Not much you could put into them. Maybe that's the point. Don't take much

@ahoymate Muffin tins are the size they were back in the 1960's. Back then we didn't have muffins the size of your head the way we do today.

No judgment, just saying muffins have grown a lot over the years. The way the muffin eaters have grown. . .

I bought three sizes of deli containers and bento boxes for our guests to help themselves. I also supplied inexpensive totes for them to carry their leftovers home.

All the regular muffin size tins ive looked up and yes that in cludes disposable are a 1 cup. With 6 cups per tin. That is 6 cups of food...I think that is plenty and if the want more they can take more than one tin.

I like how it keeps things separated, can be reheated easily, some come with lids, no need to return them back to me, cheaper than plastuc take out, more sturdy than styrofoam or paper.

@JeanLouiseFinch Did you get the deli containers online and the bento boxes? ...totes are a nice way to take your goodies! How thoughtful!

@LizzieInSRQ - Sorry, somehow DH and I started calling them bento boxes but they're really just disposable plastic food prep containers. I get them at Costco. The deli containers and cheap tote bags came from Amazon.

I always have zip lock bags in sandwich and quart sizes for guests to take food home in.

It's just my adult kids and their SO's that come so I text them in the morning and remind them to bring their own take home dish. This way here I no longer "lose" my dishes with covers, LOL! Though I do think the muffin tin is a smart idea.

That's what we used to do when my parents were still alive and hosting.

I bought a large package of styrofoam take-out plates years ago...still have some, since we quit hosting the large family dinners soon after (in-laws passed away, others moved). They are divided in three parts--1 larger, 2 smaller, with the foldover lid.

The containers and ideas presented are MUCH too economical!!!!

You MUST use L+L to give away the extras ( preferably with handles and bags!!!) or you will be exposed as a cheap hostess!!!!

I actually DO save the lidded containers from Hillshire Farms or Aldi lunch meat over the year just for such a use. I buy the larger packages and they make a nice portable, disposable containers to send stuff home in. Repurpose and reuse!!!

I also use them for cherry tonatoes and green beans that I give to neighbors when they ripen n the summer from the garden...SO MANY that I can't eat!!!

@Othereeeen, I save and use those Hillshire containers to freeze single meal soups and leftovers. They not only keep the food surprisingly well stacking them in the freezer is a dream.

I have seen those disposable muffin tins come with a plastic lid too.
