As for this item, I agree with others...I'd return as defective, which it clearly is, for a refund, including the ship costs.

As for Temptations overall...though I have enough and only collected for a while, and just what I can store and use....I've used my pieces for about 17 years, baking in them a lot...no issues with cracking, crazing, breaking. They are still a well-used part of my baking collection.

Has quality changed nowadays? That I can't speak to, since all my pieces are at least 15 years old.

That said...I love the Polish stoneware, and vintage Corningware, I inherited from mom too..great lasting quality and beauty in those pieces.

Hi, I'm faitrly new to Temp-tations. Just noticing defects (most on the underside of the product) seem to be pretty common. I ordered several items and received one yesterday. Bottom has an area patched at factory and is only partially glazed. Can someone telll me if the patch is likely to fall apart with use (microwave, dishwasher, oven, etc). Wondering if I should return. My prior item received was a 7 piece set and 6 out of 7 had a hole or patched hole underneath. By hole, I mean it was very small but big enough that it was see thru. I returned that set. Thanks.

I've never had any crack in the oven, but I've read horror stories on these forums. Occasionally I do receive a defective item, as did you. I send it back for an exchange. One time I sent it back 2 times. The third replacement was also defective, and I returned it for a refund. UGH! I never have had to pay the shipping for returning defective bakers. I also inspect the TT bakers in good lighting when I receive them.

But I have had issues like yours where I wanted/needed to exchange or return an item—typically due to damage in transit or shoddy painting—and that has always been easy with QVC.

can someone explain the temptations cooking procedure. I hear Tara say sometimes to not put it in a hot oven. So most or all recipes the oven must be pre heated. What are all you temptation owners do? I have a couple of 13x9 and they both have little cracks. This is why I stopped buying. Please explain the oven temp situation. Thanks

I've baked in an old 9x13 for years with no issue. I don't freeze in them, so I am never shocking the stoneware. I also let it cool before putting it in dish water. Cleanup is pretty easy, so I don't put the 9x13 in the dishwasher. However, any new items I had, I rarely bake in them. Mostly for serving. I haven't bought any bakeware sets in years. My last purchase was some dipping bowls. Super cute, for dressing, potion control snacks. I'm sure my 9x13 is 15 years old. Polka dot, so you know it's old.

My favorite items were the oval bread bowls. Mail, fruit, candle centerpieces. I have three or four.

I think it's clearly a problem, as on TSV day, I've heard several mentions of not taking directly freezer to oven, so they know the problems exist. A few pieces that crazed, I now use as a plant holder. (A firework floral lace 8x8). The loaf pan, however, is perfect.
