HSN TS Curtis Multi-Cooker today?

Thoughts on this? I am interested but want to use it more for cooking chicken , shrimp, ground turkey dishes, all with veg- He seems to be demonstrating it for mainly rice, pasta and grains, so I am reluctant. Doesn't really sound "multi"? Anyone have it? Thanks Q Friends!

@Skyegirl21 ............Are you aware its only a 2 qt? Thats pretty small. For me personally it does not do enough for my uses. I have one but its a large 8 qt capacity, which most of the time is too big, but its there when I need or want the size. Plus mine does so much more.

I suggest you look on Amazon at the slow cookers on there and see what all uses they have before you buy.

I do love me some Curtis Stone--but not this item. Way too small and I have 2 Instant pot pressure cookers, 3 qt and 6 qt, that do the same thing--- plus a crock pot---can do all that he has showed this little baby can do.

I don't own this cooker but I have Curtis Stone's bread maker, Dura Pan set and his electric skillet........all of which I love! That being said if the size works for you I would give it a try for sure, it's a great price. There is also a cookbook for it available on HSN for $19.95. Good luck with your decision.

All of Curtis Stone products are good but you do not need all the extras they try and sell you. You can find recipes for any of this type of cooker online or on Pinterest.

I still have a smaller version of Cooks Essentials brand and the non stick was nice inside also. Still looks like new and I have had it for about 8 years.

I am going to make rice in mine for lunch. All my children are on their own so a 2 cup one was great for me. Mine also has all the features they show on Curtis one.

I have the old Wolfgang Puck one from probably 20 years ago.

It came with a steamer basket that you could sit on top of the unit.

I only ever used it to make rice or steam a tiny (it was only 1.5 cups, at least they are making them bigger now) portion of vegetables.

HSN does have a recipe book for $19.95 on the website - Item 746-170

Maybe there's poultry/shrimp recipes in there?

The description says it slow cooks and roasts, so maybe you could pretty much put anything in there?

My Wolfgang one was so small, it couldn't do much.

They literally used to call it a rice cooker, then over the years they changed the name to multi cooker.

Honestly, for me, it was a one trick pony that I would not have purchased again.

Sitting in the cupboard, collecting dust, as we speak 😄

I get much more use out of an actual slow cooker or instant pot.

Fwiw my mom has the original one and she actually uses it quite a bit. She is in her 90s and lives by herself. She’s used it for rice, soups, banana bread, and “dump” pasta dishes. It’s perfect for her as she doesn’t want lots of leftovers (2 servings is fine for her), she doesn’t want to babysit a pot on a burner, plus her slow cooker is too big/heavy for her now.

Thinking about it now, I wish the presentation would have told me specifically what each function does, the differences between them all, in heat levels, cooking time, steam, etc. Then I might have purchased... The item description also says nothing.

I watched the presentation at midnight. Curtis did cook a shrimp dish and he also cooked a chicken dish. He talked about how long to cook the chicken.

He cooked quite a variety of dishes. He had a helper clearing out cookers after Curtis showed their presentation of he items that he cooked and the helper brought more dishes in. They had cooked a bunch of dishes before hand, so they were ready at midnight. And Curtis also prepared a few dishes that didn't require the chicken to be fully cooked for instance.

I was impressed how well Curtis and crew were prepared. And there was quite a variety of dishes.
