There has been a debate in my family about this! I do not eat meat, but when I did, it was DEFINITELY medium rare for me.❤ 😁 I felt like well done was eating leather; it was just SO tough! I now realize I was likely OVERCOOKING it!😁 Since this is GRILLING season, I thought this might be fun!😊

How do you prefer to prepare your steak for grilling, for fajitas, salads, sandwiches, soups, burritos etc...? Do you marinate, dry rub, lightly season.?

~~~All we need is LOVE💖
We aren't big beef eaters either and may eat red meat 3 or 4 times during summer grilling season. When we do, it's tenderloin steak or waygu beef burgers. Only seasoning on both is salt and pepper on top. Our steak...rare always - melts in your mouth and delicious with a quick outside char. The burgers, medium rare. I can't do well done grilled beef. Like chewing on a boot 🥾
Haven't had a steak in 28 years. DH has 1-2 per year. He has to cut down on red meat and especially steaks. He likes filets cooked with nothing, medium. No steak sauce. Just steak. We go to a steak house that is notoriously high the one or two occasions each year and I think they season his steak while cooking, but he doesn't. Doesn't matter. That's the only one he wants if he only has it 1-2 x per year, so he doesn't mind the high price, since it's a rare occasion and the steak is delicious. I get lobster.
I love steak but usually only eat them as a treat, maybe once every couple of months or so. I buy the best I can afford at the time. My preference is medium rare. I don't have a grill so cook mine inside using my Lodge black iron skillet.
I preheat the skillet on medium high. A light coating of olive oil, salt & pepper, maybe sometimes I use Morton Nature's Seasons seasoning blend or Cavender's All Purpose Greek Seasoning instead of the salt & pepper. A short sear (usually 3 minutes per side is fine, depending on the thickness of the steak. Pull off the burner (it still cooks in the iron skillet since it holds heat so well), then squeeze a lemon on top while it rests. Always perfect for me.
My mother always ate all her meats well done, daddy liked his rare. My mother could hardly eat at the same table with us
When we go to a restaurant or make steak at home we usually do medium and eat the ends which are a bit more towards medium well. We usually have leftovers that are medium and when we recook them they turn out medium well. As for burgers, fajitas etc we like them medium well to well. No pink. I don't want them mooing back.
I do not eat meat, but when I did, it was DEFINITELY medium rare for me.❤ 😁 I felt like well done was eating leather; it was just SO tough! I now realize I was likely OVERCOOKING it!😁 Since this is GRILLING season, I thought this might be fun!😊
How do you prefer to prepare your steak for grilling, for fajitas, salads, sandwiches, soups, burritos etc...?
Always medium rare no matter how it is we are eating it. We just use some lawry's salt and pepper.
DD and I don't mind some pink but er don't want it mooing.We just use Montreal Steak seasoning.
When I worked in a restaurant in the 80s my boss made his best friends steak using a blow torch. Steak went on the grill and he hit it with a blow torch flipped it over and repeated.
The steak had a crust and was blood red inside. I doubt the inside was even warm.
I couldn't even walk by his table, it was too much for me.
