Food Processor

I'd appreciate recommendations for a food processor. My 10 year old Cuisinart just bit the dust.

I have a Ninja food processor that has outlasted my Kitchen Aid processor.

I would recommend you look into that line. I've been really happy with my Ninja products.

A lot depends on how you use it. In general, Cuisinart and Kitchenaid will tend to get the best reviews. But different food processors have different strengths and weaknesses.

I'm currently using a Ninja. Bought it from QVC about 4 years ago. It works better than my Cuisinart.

I have a kitchen aid 14 cup food processor and a shark Ninja that comes with 3 different size bowls. Being you have a cuisinart food processor I a million percent say you will probably hate the kitchen aid food processor. It can't handle alot of stuff a good processor should be able to handle. Quite often while trying to grate hard cheese it can't do it.dough and stuff like that the blade thing will lift up while its running and I have to either finish it by hand or take anything out put blade back in and add dough back to continue. Now that and know that happens I after like 30 seconds I will take cover off and pushed blade back down. I use the Ninja way more than I use the kitchen aid. But certain things I need a big processor for. If I ever have to replace the kitchen aid I would go with a cuisinart. I love all my kitchen aid stuff except the food processor. I paid like300 bucks for it so it should be able to handle alot. So I think you would be very unhappy if you buy a kitchen aid processor. Good luck on what kind you buy. When I saw you wanted information I had to give you this information to help you out.

@hick for what size are you looking? Does it need to do heavy tasks or generally more lightweight processing?

I didn't like my Cusinart processor because there's a column in the lid that's impossible to clean out. So much food gets stuck in there. I bought one on Amazon that works well, but it's discontinued now.

I agree with what you said in your post.

I used my, beautiful to look at, but inferior performance Kitchen Aid just a few times. It would always stop, get stuck and not perform as I felt it should, at that price point.

God forbid if I put a chunk of hard cheese in it! 😮

I had a 9 qt. one. The silicone buttons got warped, stretched out, whatever, within about 2 to 3 years.
When I contacted KA they would not service it because they said it was out of warranty.
They wanted to give me a 10% coupon toward a new purchase. I passed.

I threw it out, along with all its bells and whistles that I never used either. Took up a lot of space, with a big box for those useless accessories.

I do like the KA electric tea kettle I bought though. It never gets hot on the outside and it boils fast.

edited my husband just said it was a 13 qt not 9 qt.

I have an 11 cup Cuisinaret food processor. It's my second one and is doing its thing just fine. I have no issues with cleaning any of its parts. I would check out the Ninja brand--have a few things from them--- they are really quality products.

I LOVE my Kitchenaid. It's never let me down. It's important for me to be able to choose thickness when slicing. Never had trouble with the dicing attachment either. My DIL has a Cuisinart and says it's too much trouble to use.

I have a Kitchenaid food processor that I use everyday. It's the medium size one. I also have a French fry blade that came with it....a nice perk.

I use it for dough, hard cheese, veggies, fruits, nuts and even salad dressing. I have never had an issue with it. It is over 10 years old and going strong.

I also have a Cuisinart processor at our summer place. I use it a lot when I am there. It's a medium basic model and works great.

I used to have a Hamilton Beach processor. I really liked it, but it didn't stand up to my heavy workout and died after a few years.

I suggest you figure out how often you will use your processor and what blades will work for you.

If you're going to use it often and will give it a great workout, but the best you can afford to suit your needs. If you intend to use it occasionally, you might just need a basic model not priced so high.

IMO, KA and Cuisinart are both good. I do prefer the KA personally. I just wish the parts besides the cutting discs were not all plastic. I don't think you can get away from that though.

I looked at the Breville models ( very expensive) and might consider that brand if I ever need a new one. I do like my other Breville products.

THanks everyone for your recommendations. I just ordered a 10 cup Cuisinart from Amazon that was on sale.

I would have bought the 13 cup Cuisinart from Costco but they were out of stock.

IMO, it depends on what you do with it. I have a big electric one but I rarely use it anymore. I shred my own cheese, zucchini, hard cooked eggs and find my manual one (Kitchen HQ Speed Grater and Slicer w/Suction Base from HSN - item 776-951) to be quick and easy to clean up. I gifted this one to several family members a couple of years ago and they all love it.

@JeanLouiseFinch That grater is the best ever! I have it too. It's safe and fast! I do my pecorino Romano cheese in that.

Absolutely agree with you, on RMS beauty and now this 😝
