Comparing Two Breakfast Teas

Here are my thoughts about two breakfast teas I just got from Upton Tea. I hope you will keep posting about teas as well! You all have great recommendations--like the Thompson's Tea Titanic I found from this group of posters!!!! Upton has lots of samples you can buy and it is a lot of fun and interesting to see the differences in teas.

Leadenhall Breakfast Tea

125g packet $8.50 (15 cents/cup)

125g tin $10.50 (19 cents/cup)

A good breakfast black tea that is strong enough to take milk, but great without it also. Steeped longer than 4 minutes I have not found it bitter, but even better with a longer 5 or 6 minute steep to drink with milk

It is a blend of a "brisk" Ceylon and a "malty" Assam It a smaller leaf style than the Kensington blend below, and did leave a few "specks" of leaf in the pot. Not a big deal but just to note.

I think this is a very good tea than any tea drinker would like, and it would be good with or without milk and at any time in the day. It's a tea that would appeal to many. a

Upton Kensington Breakfast Blend

125g packet $8.75 (15 cents/cup)

125g tin $11 (20 cents/cup)

Described as a "rich blend of Assam, Ceylon, and Keemun. enhanced by a rich mouth feel and overall sweetness. . . With a mellow smoothness and lingering finish." Which I found to be a good description.

It has a little more flavor and a slightly brighter note than the one above to me. I liked the extra flavor note, but both these teas are very drinkable, good with or without milk, and don't get bitter with a little over-steeping.

We have also tried this one iced and it is excellent! Husband liked the top one better hot, but we haven't iced that one yet.
