Life is too short, IMO. The problem can easily be eliminated by realizing the limitations of Temptations and putting an end to the cycle of buy, crack, replace, repeat.

And I am not a troll!

I am so upset with the way the Temptations cracks! I just threw away a piece that was my most used size. I've called customer service (with temptations, not QVC) to replace this size more than 2 times and it has cracked each time. This is not the only one either. I had a cute orange poppy set that the largest size cracked and when I called, it had been discontinued so she sent a similar sized but now the set is incomplete. Of all my dishes, I use temptations the most but I HATE to put any more money into something that isn't worth it. I was told not to put the frozen foods in the dish then put in a pre-heated oven, to let the dish and the oven heat together to avoid cracking.... this doesn't work. Still cracks. Am I the only one that has issues with this??

There have been multiple threads about Temptations cracking, so I am sure you will get a lot of comments. My advice it to accept the fact that they are inferior products, and start a collection of quality pieces, purchased elsewhere.

Hope that doesn't happen.

I'd just purchase better quality stuff. There are lots of choices out there. Fiesta, for one, makes excellent quality stoneware (MIA). Some other really good companies make it but not all in the US - some still good quality. I would not put any stoneware made in China in any heat source unless it came from a top notch company.

The older CorningWare, that is the Pyroceram made int he US, is also extremely good. But the newer, Chinese-made, stuff is not. It's a stoneware that I find unappealing.

I really like some of the patterns, but I wouldn't buy another piece on a bet! I bought a really pretty one-time set several years ago-cream with yellow trim, red roses and a little bit of green for leaves. Three pieces - the large one crazed while sitting in my cabinet - never used. I contacted Temptations - they didn't have that set any more, they didn't bother to ask me my preference--they sent me a round yellow Old World baker - which definitely would not fit in the rectangular wire rack! And of all the pieces of their bakeware, the yellow Old World was the one I liked the least. I got mad, called them back, wrote them a letter, and they sent me a large green Old World piece -which was my preference, but too large for the wire rack. I used the yellow round one to make mac & cheese a few times - it cracked and crazed. Then I used the two smaller rose patterned pieces to bake a sweet potato casserole ONE time, and they cracked! I can still use them for serving, but can't bake in them. I've never used the large green one - I should probably check and see if it has crazed now just sitting in my cabinet. So, you are definitely not alone in your frustration!

My daughter loves Fiesta Ware and I'm giving some serious thought to that line.

I need to check it all out to see if it's oven safe. You know, freezer, bake, serve and dishwasher safe.

Love the colors

Today I had to call temptations customer service about one of my pieces. I used it yesterday to make ribs. They were not frozen and I had them in the oven for 6 hours at 260 degrees. When I went to clean the pan it looked horrible. Crazing and cracks that went all the way through. Temptations customer service asked me if I put frozen food in the dish, which I hadnt. Also asked if I left it sitting in water to soak. I had not. First rep did not know if cooking something for 6 hours would effect the dish. Second rep said it would not. In the end they replaced the item with me paying shipping. This should not have happened and I will not be purchasing any more temptations. This should not happen .

Summerbreeze, that is totally uncalled for. There's no reason the dish should have cracked...even though it was in the oven for 6 hours, the temperature was low enough that it shouldn't have mattered. Heck, the amount of cook time should not have negative effects on the cookware at all. I never hear Tara say that you can only cook under certain temps for certain lengths of time...if there are all of these stipulations, then they should say so on the air and include information pertaining to this along with the cookware when they ship it to you. I'd hate to think what would happen if you took a dish from freezer to oven like they say you should be able to do!

I have a lot of Temptations, some of which has crazed, one of which cracked right in half. I will no longer buy any since I think the quality control is seriously lacking. Also, I only have so much space in my kitchen!

Just to get this out of the way first ... I'm not a troll!! I have had temp-tations since 2010 - and I don't have any complaints about it's performance. I do hate when they give you the impression you can do anything with this stoneware -you can not. You need to treat it with respect as with all your other dishes. You throw it around and bang it ... It will chip and crack. My #1rule is you need to temper the stoneware. By this I mean you need to bring it up or down to temperature at a reasonable rate. Nothing likes extreme temps fast. I always start my oven when I put the dish in the oven ... This way they both warm up together. And it has not caused any difference in my food by doing this ... And no cracking so far. The only time I had a "crack" in one of my temp-tations was when it came that way (a spot was not glazed) and they replaced that item with no problems. The paint and finish they have had many problems with and I too, just like others, have been a victim of. Easy fix ... Just mark it defective and send back. That way you do not get charged with the shipping. I only send back whole orders if they have multiple issues - otherwise I contact TT for replacements. Funniest blooper I got .... Cream square baker with one green handle - I called TT and they sent another out without the green handle. Christmas time was the worst for me ... Sent back /replaced several orders.

On 3/13/2014 upsidedown said:
On 3/13/2014 Summerbreeze said: Today I had to call temptations customer service about one of my pieces.

I hope they weren't saying that soaking it in water would make it crack!

On the info sheet that came with the few I ordered ( a lot more than I wanted to read lol)it DID say to not soak an item IN the dishwater--you can put water in the dish but the bottom of the dishes are not glazed? but they are dw safe -- I guess because they do not soak that way.

I love the polka dots that I bought ,but a lot of times I just get out my old corning ware or pyrex and use it so I do not have to pamper it when I clean up.

I had this happen with a three piece baking set several years ago. I pitched them and never looked back. They're defective, quit wasting your money! I have NO idea why the Q still sells them.
