Around the Southern Table

I saw this cookbook on QVC last night and I wanted to buy it. While Amazon has it on backorder right now, I was able to buy it from an Amazon partner, BardPaper for $8.70 and $3.99 shipping and that's for a new book. Even with shipping, that's a lot cheaper than buying it from QVC; the total is $12.69. I just bought it and got my Amazon order confirmation. I should get it around 3/19.

I'm interested in a new cookbook, "The Southern Bite", that was just released. It has been the buzz in the southern cooking internet world. I think the recipes in "The Southern Bite" are easy and actually ones I would use. It is available at Amazon. I don't know if QVC will have it or not. Thanks for your info.

Yes, cookbooks (like most other items) can be found at better prices and lower/free S&H elsewhere. It always pays to shop around.

An idea for cookbook junkies: Some of the best cookbook sources I've found are Goodwill and other thrift stores. People give away the most amazing cookbooks. Some of my favorites are the ones published by women's auxiliaries, women's clubs, etc. for various churches, military wives' groups, civic organizations, etc. Real recipes, tried and loved by real people. I love good cookbooks -- especially when I can get great ones for nearly nothing!

I just have to share a memory about cookbooks. After my sister passed, many of us were at the house one day cleaning, etc. With the daughter's blessing, we each took any cookbooks that interested us. I didn't get many because they would have been duplicates for me. She would have been so happy to see her beloved cookbooks staying with an appreciative relative. Remarkably there were no catfights! Maybe she was orchestrating from above.

What a lovely story. I collect cookbooks as well and I've told me children to take what they want while I'm here and when I'm no longer here.

My DIL has gotten copies of many of my favorite recipes already and is so happy that I will share anything with her. We share everything in our family because we all like to cook and experiment with different ingredients.

Yes! Great story! As a cookbook collector myself I would love to have friends and family taking my cookbooks. Pass them around the neighborhhood, just make good use of them!
