The aluminum leeches and it turns all black and the black comes off. We never thought something like that couldn't be put in the dishwasher, who knew, ha, ha. When I went online to see how to fix it, there were millions of people that the same thing happened to. There were ways to fix it, but at this point I think we'll just get a new one and a coated one as well and NO dishwasher, ha, ha. I would think the coated one would be okay for everything. Anything about KitchenAid seems to able to be found online, you could google your question and I'll bet you can find an answer, I bought a red one for Christmas for my husband and he loves it. Thank God for that EZ pay, ha, ha.

I have only been a KA stand mixer owner for a few months and love it. I have used it a lot more than I even imagined.

I was wondering about the 2 paddles --the coated one (which I always use) and the uncoated. Is there any recipe that one should not use the coated one with ?

I always like to watch the presentations with the KA lady to pick up info. #1 she knows her product and #2 my mixer did not have much information on usage so I try to glean info from her .

Just don't put the aluminum one in the dishwasher. We did and after looking it up, apparently so did thousands of others, ha, ha.

ty! What happens to it ? Does it turn a funny color or?

I usually just wash items like that at the sink with my sprayer , but when hurried I will stick them in the dw. I just love the coated no scrape one anyway I always hated scraping the bowl down.
