Dirty Drinks

Apparently the latest craze but in case you, like me, never heard of them, here's the description from the Sonic Drive In website:

"New SONIC Dirty Drinks. Make it dirty with the sweet flavor of coconut, cream, and lime infused in your favorite soda flavors featuring Dr Pepper® ."

This morning I heard that Coffee Mate has come out with a creamer that is to be added To Dr. PEPPER to make a version of the same thing. (Should it be called Soda Mate?)

Now when the kids in your life ask for it, you can sound like you know of what they speak.

I plan to try one soon, maybe this weekend. Sounds interesting.

@Mz iMac. They are a large chain in the Southern states. Still use car hops. Good burgers and some weird drink combos.

If Coffee Mate has a product, it's probably a National trend and not brand new.

Not for me. The only things I drink with calories are skim milk and alcohol....not together. 😃

I have never had their dirty drinks but LOVE their strawberry shake!!!❤ They are known for their famous shakes. Sadly, they do not have Sonic Drive-Ins where I currently live.😐

@Kachina624 This looks and sounds like a cousin to Thai iced tea which has a mixture of coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk drizzled over the tea. There are versions of the creamy part. It's popular in Thai restaurants because it helps soothe the spicy heat of the Thai food.

This sounds delish. I must plan a visit to Sonic!

Love a Coke or Root Beer float. So Coffee Mate? Sure, why not.

And I put lime juice in almost everything I drink now.

I like the idea of the coconut and lime. Not sure about cream in a Dr. Pepper. Cream in pop does not seem too good to me. Except I can remember visiting my cousin in Manhattan and she drank Coke a cola mixed with milk and it was pretty good, so maybe cream in pop is good too

We have a Sonic so I might try one although I don't drink carbonated pop anymore. Might make an exception and try it as I really like coconut and lime. Squeeze a lime in my ice tea whenever one is available.

Most of the time I make my own butterscotch milk shakes. they don't know what butterscotch is in my part of Tx. Really..no kidding. They don't sell it by Smuckers in the jar or the plastic squeeze bottle.

You go thru a ice cream drive thru they say "we don't have butterscoth. I can make you a caramel".

Don't ask me why. It's some kind of secret.

I ordered from Amazon 6 jars couple of weeks ago.

Idiot didn't pack it well enough and it arrived when I opened it couple of glass jars were broken when I reached in to clear out the glass I cut my finger.

Couldn't tell from the outside no leakage. When I opened it ! What a mess ! I salvaged couple of jars . Washing them off and rest threw out. Sent a email to Amazon telling them I got pictures of the shape the mess arrived in and my cut finger.

They sent in 2 days a new 6 jars of topping. FREE .

A few years ago, Utah started a trend with a couple of custom soda shop chains that offer "dirty sodas" as one of the options, and the shops have slowly spread across the western states. Other chains and drink manufacturers are also cashing in now after noticing the extreme popularity of these establishments, which have huge lines at their drive-thrus virtually all day long. For many people, the drink customization in general is far more appealing than the "dirty sodas," but those creamy coconutty drinks are still a huge draw.

I love Dr. Pepper, but only have one on occasions, I may have to try this for a special treat. There is a sonic close to where I live but I have not been for years only when my son was young and he thought it was so cool to order and have it delivered to the car. I do remember they had a great patty melt. I think I will soon treat myself there. I just forgot about Sonic. Thanks @Kachina624 for the post.

@Kachina624 No, I hadn't heard about them, but I LOVE ❤️ Sonic drinks. I drink their Cherry Limeade drink mix in water all day! It's my favorite drink.

I'll definitely have to try some kind of Dirty Drink from there this week. In case anyone gets a particularly Great one, please let us know what you chose!😃

@LizzieInSRQ - I think the three most well-known chains are Swig, Fiiz, and Sodalicious.

@KathyM23. For as long as I can remember, my dear dad had "root beer milk" with his sandwich every weekend and daily after he retired, at lunch. I was raised to believe everyone drank the same. I thought of him when I heard about "Dirty Drinks". He may have originated the idea.

@happilyretiredgirl. We hav3 some of the Whattaburger Drive Ins that filtered over from Texas. Seasonally, they offer a great Dr. PEPPER MILKSHAKES. It's one of my favorite things tho I'm not a huge Dr. Pepper fan.
