Here's my secret method for knowing about my eggs....

I leave them IN the store carton...cardboard or foam.

By the time they get to my fridge,they've travelled hundreds of miles in the back of some semi, stacked up in bins, handled at the store, re-stacked in the displays., to my cart, the belt, my trunk, the kitchen table, the fridge.

I figure they'll be fine in my fridge...

But here's my REAL secret....lean in close now.....

I use a Sharpie and each time I remove one or more eggs, I write how many are still in the carton on the end that faces out. Just cross out the last number you wrote.

Open the fridge on shopping day, see you have 5 left, prepare to buy more ( or not, depending).

Cost....ALMOST free ( well I DID buy that Sharpie two years ago...so there's that. 1.00.

Age 67 and I can count on ONE hand how many broken eggs I've had. And if I DO find a cracked one? I whisk it up and feed it to the ferals.

Sheeeesh. $30 bucks to "protect" eggs?????!?!?!!?!

I've noticed both Q and HSN are selling a LOT more small kitchen stuff...most of it one use, gadgetty quality, drawer stuffers. It's really obvious...plastic, silicone ( HATE that stuff....always feels greasy), just a lot of yard sale junk....all of them "just" 29.99 plus 5.50 shipping!!!

Lock and lock egg storage containers are awful. The eggs sweat in there and grow moldy shells. I have two of them and can't use them with the lids for this reason.

The best, IMO, is the old fashioned cardboard containers they are sold in.

Well from what I've read on this forum, there seemed to be a clamoring for these type of small kitchen gadgets, especially during ITKWD.

I have a clear egg carton. I like the fact that I can neatly stack items in my refrigerator. I bought it and similar items at TJ Maxx. Don't remember what I paid but felt the price was fine. I would have prefered a drawer option. I suspect storage items of this type are popular or there would not be an aisle devoted to them at Home Goods, Marshall's, or TJ Maxx.

Repeating what I have often said, not everything is for everyone. Some see a need for things others may feel is frivolous. I enjoy variety.

That is a bit steep. I do not own the Copco version, but have ordered several sets of egg storage containers from LocknLock and LOVE them! I have never had a cracked egg, and have yet to see any mold🤞, but minimal condensation is sometimes noted inside!🥰

If I wanted to try these, I would wait for a clearance and free s/h day, and purchase a set because I like the color options.👍

~~~All we need is LOVE💖
I read about egg cartons after seeing this post. It says it's best to keep eggs in the carton they come in. They need to be in container with a lid to keep odors/flavors from getting in the eggs. It also says to store in the coldest part of refrigerator not on the door. I don't keep mine on the door.
If you are going to put in a different container use a lid plus put eggs in carton point side down. If I put mine in a different container I would use glass with lid not plastic.
The only time I have cracked eggs, it's because I didn't check the bottoms when buying, or maybe the carton slips in my hand when I'm unloading it. That happened a couple of weeks ago. Once they're in the fridge, they're safe. I keep mine in their original carton and store that underneath the ice maker, so no need to stack anything on top.
