I have a LOT of lock and lock containers - too many. I have some that I have never even used. Hubby likes them too. Well this morning he dropped one on the tile kitchen floor, and sure enough, a tab broke off. That has happened numerous times to us. I don't necessarily throw them out when one tab is broken, I usually keep using it, but more carefully.

It then dawned on me that when they do the "demonstrations" on QVC, they will toss them flat on their lid or flat upright. Never do they toss them as they really fall, at an angle. To demonstrate that would risk a tab breaking off on live TV.

I know this is nothing new or earth shattering. I am just venting here. These containers are relatively inexpensive, but it is disappointing when one of them breaks.

It is frustrating when things break like this. My older L&L containers are much sturdier than the new ones. I've stopped buying (like you I have plenty of containers) because IMO the quality is not as good as it was.

I have had two containers that stored my sugar and flour fall and the a tab broke off. I just washed the containers and was allowing them to throughly dry before filling them when they fell and broke.

Right now I have tuna salad in a bowl with the lid held on with two rubber bands. The tabs are there and the lid fits perfect, but the tabs will not stay closed. They keep popping open.

I have Tupperware that is 30 plus years old that still works like new.

I agree L&L is frustrating some times. The original older L&L was better. The material was different. They should have left well enough alone.

I have some lock and lock that are still going strong for about 10 years. Since then, I've occasionally bought a few pieces of the flimsy storage containers from the supermarket. They are ready for the trash. So I took a risk and bought a new set of lock and lock a few days ago on a black Friday or cyber week sale. I hope they will be okay, but going by recent posts, I have a feeling that I will be disappointed.

I bought something called LocknLock on Amazon to store homemade bread in. When I got it, I figured it was probably a LocknLock knockoff. Didn't really matter if it did what I needed it to do. But, then after reading a lot of comments here about how it had changed to a thinner plastic, I'm not so sure if it is a knockoff. The thinner plastic on the one I bought makes it so that one of the tabs doesn't want to lock because the plastic pushes in with the pressure of me pushing the tab. And then, when I do get all 4 to lock, one will pop back open.

I'll continue to use it, but makes me wonder. Otherwise, I have only been buying the glass LocknLock pieces in the last few years.

I stopped buying L&L years ago, after they sold the carousel sets. I bought two of them; they had round and square containers, plus the storage drawer for the lids.

Every single square lid had the tabs break off. It's only DH and myself; we're not rough on things. Most of the square ones ended up with only two tabs. The containers also stained and peeled (or bubbled) even though we never put anything hot into them.

I wrote to them given that they had a "free replacement" guarantee. Was asked to supply the code numbers on the lids and did that. Never heard another word.

I finally just threw them all out and replaced with Rubbermaid - with which I've never had a problem!

Oh, and I also have Tupperware that's decades old - no issues with that either.

I love the stuff. I ordered 7 of the printed pie carriers to use as cookie trays. I know if it was reversed that would be something I would enjoy receiving. I'm lucky I have not had any to break. My biggest problem is storing the lids and right bottoms together.

I've purchased a ridiculous amount of L&L from QVC over the years. Most have been donated or walked away with my kids, but the ones I still have are excellent.

In my experience I would advise buyers to stay away from the large sets that are offered at cheap prices, like TSVs for example. The quality is not the same.

I've also noticed that the ones I've held onto are all clear containers with clear covers and the blue seal inside. I'm convinced that they are superior to the others. Maybe I'm imagining this, but I don't think so... they seem to be sturdier and seal more efficiently.
